Best Rock Singer

Kenny Loggins is underrated IMO. Don’t Fight It with him and Steve Perry is a great song with two of the best male rock vocalists. Among the female vocalists, I’m partial to Stevie Nicks and Linda Ronstadt. Whenever I Call You Friend with Loggins and Stevie is one of my favorites. Linda Ronstadt had great range, starting with her Stone Poneys songs. IMO she’s the godmother of female rock singers.

And you only know the beginning of it. I listen to just about everything, classical, folk, world music. I don't worry much about genre.
Everything but mainstream it would seem. Not that I don't dislike a lot of mainstream it's just funny the stuff you're oblivious to and the obscure stuff you aren't oblivious to lol.

I listened to mainstream when I was growing up. Rarely a mainstream song came out that I liked. For instance "White Rabbit" was very popular, and I thought it very clever. I liked Beatles music, and that was very popular. After a while I tuned off to popular music because I didn't find much that was original to me (that doesn't mean that there isn't good music out there) and became more interested in folk music and foreign music. I have also always been interested in religious music. I have never really tried to analyze why that happened. I have a brother who is a musician and writes and performs classical music. This and traveling to foreign countries have probably been the most influential in my musical tastes. He stays current on modern music and sometimes I consult him. He is what you call eclectic in terms of his tastes.

This thread went from best rock singer based on ability and morphed into favorite rock singer. Either way is fine. You guys have named a lot of good ones.

To quote my OP: "Who do you pick as your top Rock vocalist?"

This is about who you pick, like, believe is your top Rock-ish vocalist not limited to actual apex technical vocal ability...though not excluding it either. It has been pretty informative for me and fun reading all the thoughtful replies!
