BCS Worst Nightmare

I would agree .... money seems to be the issue...or rather the lack of it going to those who run the bowls if there were to be a playoff system.

The only way they they will compete is is to join the
Pac-10 and that won't happen. I'm all for a playoff but until any of the BCS schools can figure out a way to make it work $$ wise, like it is today in the current bowl system, isn't going to happen

Methinks the Mountain West will be brought into the BCS fold for 2014, either as an addition or at the Big East's expense.

If Texas beats OSU, there are going to be four teams that could intelligently claim they deserve to be #1 (besides the winner of Florida vs OU, Texas, Utah, and USC). The BCS is a total failure.

That being said, I still like all the bowl games.

I would not say I like "all" of the bowls. I think there are way too many. However, I do like the way it was in the eighties. I love the conference tie-ins and a few others. Nobody was complaining back then, especially not me. The influx of bowl games has taken the importence out of them, and has given ammo to the pro-playoff crowd.

Undefeated does NOT mean they are the best team in the country. One of the best, yes. Clearly the best, no.
Umm yes it does. Who do you think could beat them Florida nope sorry Utah put up way better number against Alabama. USC they couldn't even beat Oregon State, but Utah did and the week after that big win against USC. Oh Oklahoma Utah would have Bradford for lunch. So yes they are the best in the nation right now.

The other thing: Make a New Years Day Bowl important again.

Is this the 1st year that the Cotton Bowl was played on a day other than the 1st? I remember waking up and watching the C-Bowl @ 11 on 1/1

:biglaugh::biglaugh: The good old transitive property used in sports. This is, without a doubt, one of the worst posts I've ever seen when it comes to intelligence.

So can you please use this to solve the debacle in the Big XII south as to the best team?

YES! International bowl on Jan. 3rd??? GMAC bowl on Jan. 6th??? WHY?

I'd also like to see the 12th game dropped as well. The 12th game was approve to allow more marquee games, but it has done the exact opposite. Teams just schedule Samford and pick up the easy win. Plus now 6-6 teams go to bowls and most finish 6-7 with a losing season. Basically, teams with a losing record playing in bowl games:no:

College football in general is due for a massive overhaul. They did it in the mid 90's, it's time again. Eliminate the puff and make it worth something again.

The bowl games yes. They are just filler fo the national title game. But DO NOT DISPOSE OR ANY REGULAR SEASON GAMES. I loved 11 but now that I get 12 GAME ON!!!

Don't get me wrong, I love watching ISU play 12 games instead of 11, but in the grand picture it just isn't working IMO. 6-6 teams don't deserve bowl games, but luckily for ISU, 6-6 teams go anyway.

I could really give two ***** about whether there are bowls or playoffs. I want whatever's better for ISU football.

I miss having like 8 games on New Years Day all day. Now they spread it out and I don't get the same overload.

Have Boise State join the Mountain West and it is probably one of the top 5 conferences in college football this year...

More like top 3 I think. Didn't they go undefeated versus the Pac10 regular season? And the Pac10 is undefeated in bowls.

Utah is as good as any team in football. They have a valid claim to the title. They were extremely well coached. The Utes looked to have just as much speed and athleticism as Alabama, which is saying something. I could not believe how impressed I was with Utah.

I don't get why everyone likes to rip on the BCS. Its better than what they had before. At least there is an effort to have the best two teams play eachother. Before, you could have an 11-0 team play a 8-3 team while another 11-0 team plays a 9-2 team.

Having said that, if there is a playoff I think it should be something with each conference getting one team in the playoff, then maybe the two most highly ranked non-BCS teams get in for an 8 team playoff. Obviously the representative from each conference would be the conference champion, so for this to work every conference would need a championship game. I'm not sure how the seeding would be done but I'm guessing there would always be arguments over the seeds but at least it would be a way to take rankings out of it. You simply have to win the conference to get into the playoff.

Utah is Sugar Bowl champs. Isn't that enough? The whole national champion debate is dumb. I'm not saying I'm against a playoff, but there will be just as much ******** as before. I'm willing to argue that the current system is better at crowing the "best" team national champion than a playoff -- too many places to stumble. I have a feeling Utah would never make it through a 16 team playoff. Instead, they got to the Sugar Bowl and won. Sugar Bowl champions! Yay! Not eliminated in round two under a playoff.

Utah is the national champions in my eyes. They beat Michigan at the big house, & yes I know they had an off year. They beat Oregon State the week after they beat USC. They beat #12 TCU in conference 13-10. Then #14 BYU handly 48-24. Last but not least #4 Alabama 31-17. This itself should prove that Florida, Oklahoma, & Texas hands down DO NOT DESERVRE THAT CHAMPIONSHIP AND THAT THE BCS STANDS FOR BIG CASH SELLERS. If Oklahoma or Florida win they should call the BCS commitee and tell them they want Utah to have it. And this really goes on Urban Meyers shoulders cause if it wasn't for Utah and their success he would not be in Florida right now and that is fact. And for Bob Stoops he should know how it feels to be Utah. He has had it done to him before. SO GIVE THEM WHAT THEY HAVE EARNED! THE SEARS TROPHY FOR BEING THE ONLY TEAM TO GO UNDEFEATED IN FOOTBALL THIS YEAR!!!!!

Just because the BCS recognizes a champion, doesn't mean we have to say its the same team. I think Utah or Texas should be the national champion, but heck the system is already messed up.
