If Texas beats OSU, there are going to be four teams that could intelligently claim they deserve to be #1 (besides the winner of Florida vs OU, Texas, Utah, and USC). The BCS is a total failure.

That being said, I still like all the bowl games.

have the ap arrange to make sure 4 teams all end with the same number of votes. That would really get some playoff talk going.

Yup, It is time for a playoff. This win by Utah isn't like the Boise State win against OU in 2007. That was an upset, this isn't. Utah had the better team, end of story. When Utah is one of the top 4 teams in the country and they don't have an opportunity to play for a National title, that is pathetic.

College Football is my favorite sport, but it is all about money and that is absolutely pathetic. Who cares if the small schools don't have the tradition or fan bases of the BCS conferences? Who are we to say that they don't deserve a chance to play for a national title? That is pathetic.

It is time for a playoff. NOW.

Utah is the national champions in my eyes. They beat Michigan at the big house, & yes I know they had an off year. They beat Oregon State the week after they beat USC. They beat #12 TCU in conference 13-10. Then #14 BYU handly 48-24. Last but not least #4 Alabama 31-17. This itself should prove that Florida, Oklahoma, & Texas hands down DO NOT DESERVRE THAT CHAMPIONSHIP AND THAT THE BCS STANDS FOR BIG CASH SELLERS. If Oklahoma or Florida win they should call the BCS commitee and tell them they want Utah to have it. And this really goes on Urban Meyers shoulders cause if it wasn't for Utah and their success he would not be in Florida right now and that is fact. And for Bob Stoops he should know how it feels to be Utah. He has had it done to him before. SO GIVE THEM WHAT THEY HAVE EARNED! THE SEARS TROPHY FOR BEING THE ONLY TEAM TO GO UNDEFEATED IN FOOTBALL THIS YEAR!!!!!

Great post, I totally agree.

I still don't understand how the playoff doesn't happen, and you can't tell me it's about the money because I know the NCAA would make more $$ having a 1v4 and 2v3 semifinal game than playing the MagicJack St. Petersburg Bowl, Eaglebank Bowl, New Mexico Bowl and Motor City Bowl combined.

You could play the playoff before the holiday break and then play the championship after New Years, basically the same schedule as the current bowl roster.

You'd have 4 fewer teams in the bowls every year, but that would mean teams might actually have to prove their worth to get into a bowl game instead of just having to squeak by with a winning record (no offense to Memphis, Southern Miss, Minnesota or Florida Atlantic).

I think university presidents are against it. A true playoff would be tough for fans to get to as well. There has to be something different than the current system.

I was just thinking this as well. Utah has had two undefeated teams in 4 years. What more do they need to do? I like the bowls, but honestly I have only caught bits and pieces of each because none of them are really important in the grand scheme of the BCS, except for the "national title" game. I would be absolutely glued to the tv if these were playoff games. Think March Madness times a hundred.

Did you watch the SEC championship game? That was basically a national semi-final playoff game.

This year doesn't need a playoff. Thier is only one team in college football who is undefeated and that is Utah. But I do agree that next year if there is four undefeated teams in the nation then yes a playoff but not until that time. If there is two teams out of the 7 top conferences in the nation then they have the right to the championship game.

It's the Rose Bowl. There is so much old money against a playoff it isn't even funny. They have to stick to the outdated traditions and pat each other on the back for a job well done. It's like a Frat of 90 year old guys saying "Thank you sir! May I have another?"

I'll post it again because I think it is the best idea I have heard in a long. It makes too much sense I guess.

Wetzel's playoff plan: I'll drink to that - College Football - Rivals.com

“It’s not a question of if there is going to be a playoff, it’s going to be a question of when,” T.K. Wetherell, president of Florida State said last spring. “It’s going to be driven by money. None of us sitting at this table … are ever going to admit that.”

Well hurry up and admit it so I can enjoy this sport again.:realmad:

That's just the problem though. Under the BCS, a team like Utah will never get a shot at the national title. Officially all Utah gets is a Sugar Bowl championship. Well, pickle me pink, that's great but it ain't a national title.

Undefeated does NOT mean they are the best team in the country. One of the best, yes. Clearly the best, no.

The only way they they will compete is is to join the
Pac-10 and that won't happen. I'm all for a playoff but until any of the BCS schools can figure out a way to make it work $$ wise, like it is today in the current bowl system, isn't going to happen
