Wait until next year.Depth and defense. That what cost us tonight. And, because the former at least partially impacts the latter, this won’t be the last time we lose a game like that.
We scored 5 bench points compared to BU’s 44. And we score 51 second half points after leading at halftime, only to allow BU to score 60.
I mentioned to a friend after the OU game that I’m afraid we’ll lose a lot of games that way down the stretch. We’re going to wear down, lose intensity on defense, lose focus and make more mental and physical errors, etc.
I worry this is the reality of the current roster. And, unfortunately, it will probably lead to some unfair criticism of Prohm.
Prohm walked into a very, very tough situation. In June he was handed an overrated roster and thus a fanbase with too high of expectations, following an ISU legend without fault, and essentially a complete rebuild in Year 2.
That said, I had hoped to see a little more from Prohm this year in the sense the team would maybe get a little better at something. What do we do better than last year? I guess it is good we do not do anything significantly worse. I hate to say it, but I am probably just prejudiced as I was concerned with JP doing the hiring and had the feeling JP was at risk of looking for a babysitter he wanted to have over for Sunday dinner.
