Barnes

Does it help that Iowa State gets the last visit, plus this news came out right after the opening of the ISU new practice facility...

HB will have it all there if he announces early to ISU and he will have access to that facility....

He won't have access until he actually enrolls though, correct?

It's great news for us. In fact, I think he's already made the decision, and doesn't want the "circus" of all the coaches at Ames High games like last year. These remaining visits are courtesy visits.
There is no way he would announce for one of the other five in November, with a senior season yet to play in Ames, Iowa.

Unless he wants a title...

Lord knows K can't win a title. The UNC/Duke rivalry works in cycles and Duke is about to gain some momentum. Most are expecting commitments from two top 5 recruits in the next 10-14 days (Kyrie Irving in '10, Austin Rivers in '11) so Duke is heading back on the right track. As far as a NC is concerned, I think Harrison puts Duke, UNC, or KU in the pre-season top 3, if not #1.

I think the other schools want to put pressure on him to commit early because the longer it takes, the better chance ISU has. However, I'm sure he realizes that no matter how long he takes... every one of those schools will take him up until the last day. Nobody will 'pass' on the nation's top recruit because he took too long to decide. They might tell him that it hurts their recruiting process if he takes too long because they don't know whether or not to pull the trigger on a 'backup plan'.

My thought is the only way you can be 'pressured' to move up your sign date... is if it's by the team you're currently leaning toward. If you get to the deadline for a team pressuring them and you say, "sorry, I'm not ready yet... but since you want a decision by today... it's not you" then they will be more than happy to extend the decision date.

That's how one job offer out of college went for me. I was deciding between 3 places, all were nice, but I still had one last interview so I told one company I wasn't ready yet, but thank you for the offer. Then they conveniently gave me more time to decide.

Or coaches are putting pressure on him to decide....there are two sides to everything.

What possible "pressure" would applied to HB? Something like "we need your decision soon, or we're going to move on?"
Please.
He's the #1 player in the country. Every coach will wait.

Yes, because Ames is such a scary place. All these adults getting up early in the morning to taunt Barnes at 6am when he's on his way to school to lift weights. All these Ames high fans who can't wait to boo the best player in history. Gimme a break - 99% of ames high will be excited for Barnes and wish him the best. This is Ames, not Lexington KY.

Guys there is no chance that coaches are putting pressure on Harrison to commit. There is no ultimatum given.

Wall was the #1 recruit last year and he signed extremely late. Coaches need to get the best players and they will do anything they can to get them....and that includes being patient

Every coach CAN'T wait...

I know he has gotten pressure from at least one...not ISU.

Who can't wait? I know UNC wanted a commitment after his visit, but they aren't recruiting anyone else in '10 so they can wait. Duke can certainly wait because the only other wing they're recruiting isn't deciding until the spring. OU and UCLA aren't really in this thing so they wouldn't mind waiting. I guess Kansas might want a decision soon because they desperately need a SF in 2010.

He wants to be a shooting guard in college. That's part of the reason we're still in this. Because we're offering that.

He can be our center if he wants.

Better yet... our 2-5 and we'll put 4 point guards on the court to feed him the ball if he wants!!!

Sad because the last few years (- brackins) that would be true.
Future's lookin better though!

Thank god, I can't wait until this is over. I don't know how this bodes for us but until he eliminates the good guys, I will always have hope.

Yeah I am sure the other coaches are telling him he can't play SG :biglaugh:
