Oh, I certainly did not mean to do that. I have every trust that the Big XII plan is legit and progressing. My concern and reaction was entirely to the announced Pitt and 'Cuse move. But after sitting and noodling on it, I'm not sure it is that significant to the Big XII. I am amazed that the Big East seems to be taking it without even a whimper.

What I really don't get is... what's Texas' motivation to leave? I kinda get A&M and OU, because they don't want to have to deal with the Longhorn Network, but if Texas leaves for the Pac 12 with the Sooners, they don't get away from it?
My new guess -- does A&M have to pay exit fees? If so, this threat by the big schools to leave the conference just REEKS of the move we made last year, giving up our share of the Nebraska/Colorado exit fees to keep the south teams in the conference. Perhaps OU and Texas want the same sort of deal?
If this is true, the Big 12 is nothing more than a bad relationship that we keep appeasing just to extend the benefits. We need to be actively looking for entrance into the Big Ten, because the drama queens down south are just going to get richer and richer the way they take the Big 12 for granted.

OU and UT declined to take our share of the CU and NU buyouts last year, so I don't see any reason to believe that is what they are after this time around.

The only problem is we have only his word to go on and, according to him, us mere peons should put 100% faith into everything he says or be "verbally" berated. When it's become crystal clear that he knows nothing more than the ESPNs of the world who he rips for knowing nothing.
That being said, about the ACC site, we probably shouldnt put too much stock into it, as it's not a credible source. The only credible source in this whole realignment thing is rebecacy's best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl that heard Mr. Boren say that OU is ISU's best friend in all of this.

I have been posting here with what I believe to be the best of intentions and not to stoke my or anyone elses ego. Rather I have been trying to add some logic and balance to the discussion. If you choose not to believe me or anything I say, then good for you. I urge everyone to look around and be as up to date as possible on all the information available.
In the end, I still see a new highly equitible Big XII (including everyone but likely A&M) coming out of this process with probably BYU and two teams from the east being added. We add large exit fees. We go back to divisions, champ game and 4 non-confs games. Also expect some kind of Big Xii network to be built as an expansion of or replacement for the LHN.

I hope this plays out like this but either OU are the best poker players in the world or they think UT joining them in the Pac-12 is better than salvaging the B12. Also a rhetorical question why would OU want equal distribution when they are the ones benefiting the current model? Are they being altruistic for the sake of stability?
Don't know but it looks to me that a more equitible and stable Big XII is the best route to National Championships for OU. That is what OU wants cuz the money follows, big money. It is not altruisim. It seems like everyone forgets that OU (and TX) has to beat up on somebody every year, what's wrong with the current group of also rans who are happy winning 6-7 games and going to any bowl.
Why would OSU call a special regents meeting to say they are staying in the Big 12? For everyone who says the Big 12 will stay together....here is the writing on the wall that it won't.
OU and OSU are as good as gone. Next up? Texas/TT.
Because when you're going to make a big announcement, sometimes it's a good idea to have a short meeting with the rest of your team before....just to insure that everyone is on the same page. If one of the regents makes an offhand comment to a reporter about how the Pac 12 wouldn't be a bad option right before the AD has a "we're staying in the Big 12" presser, then your whole organization looks like amateur hour.
Basically, the fate of the Big 12 is decided today. OU/Texas are the moneymakers for this conference and whatever comes of their talks tonight will ultimately decide the fate of the Big 12. My likely (or perhaps optimistic) opinion is that the Big 12 stays together. OU has more power than Texas right now (gotta love that feeling) and they will have a great opportunity to bring some equality to the conference during the meetings today. I don't buy th PAC-12 rumor from ESPN because it doesn't make much logical sense. My guess based on various information and a few hypothesis of my own:
1)OU gets Texas to join in an equal revenue sharing agreement, while Texas keeps all revenue from it private network. Texas also agrees to bringing the conference to 12 schools.
2) With the conference stabilized, BYU and 2 other schools agree to join, and the other teams allow TAMU to leave without a lawsuit.
3) Big 12 will make a string push at TCU now that the Big East is folding and TAMU is leaving.

Actually, I think Pitt and Cuse saw the writing on the wall, and now Big 12 is in better position. Louisville, TCU, and BYU to Big 12.
OU is stuck facing equal distribution wherever they would move. So why not do it in your existing conference where you are the bully and have a relatively easy and familiar path to the BCS? Not to mention easier travel for your other teams. It wouldn't be out of a sense of altruism, it would be a selfish act by OU that would just happen to be of great benefit to the rest of us, and that is the only reason I have any faith that this really is just a bluff to get UT to the table.
Can ANYBODY tell me where Pollard is on ANY of this???? The last I heard in August was to not hit the panic button "just yet". Again, that was AUGUST!!! Has he resurfaced at all? Has he made ANY comments recently?
You don't want Pollard making comments right now. If he is it probably won't be positive. The guy has landed us some big coaches through the way he handles things behind closed doors. No reason to think he isn't cooking something up right now.
