Anyone in NE Iowa?

It's frustrating to be in NY right now... I'm originally from Sumner, and my mom called last night and said that they had debris from [edit: Parkersburg] in Sumner... I'm glad she's safe, but she spent the night in the basement. My thoughts and prayers will be with all those affected by this.

My fiance and I just put a bunch of clothes together for goodwill here in Brooklyn (I'm getting fat), but we'd just as soon send them back to Iowa. Does anyone know where I can send clothing?

The area Goodwill is collecting clothes, but you need to specify they are for the tornado victims.

Friday and Saturday there will be what sounds like several football teams from around the state in town to help out. Several coaches have contacted Coach Thomas to help out. Good people here in Iowa.

Landon Schrage was a great Longsnapper. His brother Taylor came in as a highly touted recruit 5 years ago, but several knee injuries forced him to end his career early. He has been working for the football program since then. Several years ago, Jay Jordan played, FB I think and he was from Parkersburg as well.

Wasn't there a former standout Cyclone FB player from Applington-Parkersburg? I can't remember who it was though...

Another ISU connection:
Chelsea Poppins is an '09 ISU verbal and is from Aplington-Parkersburg.

I think A-P has the distinction of high school sending the most Iowans to the NFL if I remember right.

Something like 4 NFL players in the last 15-20 years. Pretty decent for a 1A/2A size school over that time period. Maybe wartkight can fill in the details - I'm not from anywhere near there, but they been a power in Iowa HS football for at least the last dozen years.

Aplington Parkersburg has the most NFL players per capita in the world.

I dont know, I read something in SI a couple years back about the increasing number of Samoans in the NFL, and it sounded like quite a few came from the same area. You'd better kick out another pro here pretty quick just to make sure the record still stands.

Current NFL Players:
Aaron Kampman- Pro Bowler at Green Bay (Iowa)
Brad Meester- Jags (UNI)
Jared DeVries- Lions (Iowa)
Casey Weigmann- Broncos (Iowa)

Coach Thomas has been the coach there for 30 years and is closing in on 300 victories. At one point 4 was the most active players from any HS in the nation, but I think a HS from TX now has 5 or 6. Aplington-Parkersburg has been a school for 15 years and made the playoffs for 13 of those years, winning State Titles in '93 and '01 and Runners up in '96 and '00. Coach Thomas was the NFL High School coach of the year in '06. I want to say the last time the record at Parkersburg/A-P was 5-4 was '81. In fact, I think every year since then has been at least 7 wins, but we missed the playoffs in '05 and there might have only been 6 wins that year. Coach Thomas's house was completely destroyed in the tornado. Aaron Kampman's inlaws lost a bunch as well as his grandparents. Meester's inlaws house is gone. Weigmanns live in a different part of town.

There's only 3000 people between the 2 towns so it doesn't take a whole lot to have the per capita title.
Actually, Kampman is from the little town of Kesley population around 50. per capita it can't be much better than that.

jeez .. don't tell cysmydog ... it'll ruin his record!

So Kelsey has 1 of the 4. Are the other 3 all from Parkersburg? Is Applington just getting its name in there for free?

Technically, Kesley is (was) in the Aplington School District so there is 2 from each district.
