Another arrest

Bunch of self righteous folk out this morning, apparently. Everybody else must still be hungover in bed! If you didn't drink in college, good for you. Don't put these athletes on a pedestal of perfection. They are college kids! They eat, ****, sleep, and drink like most college kids do. They also happen to give most of their time to ISU basketball, mostly for our​ enjoyment. Matt seems like a good kid; give him a damn break. Get off your internet high horse and go mow your lawn before it rains.
 
Tons of overreaction and unnecessary judgment in this thread. He's a 19 year old kid that made a mistake. It was a dumb mistake, but one that a LOT of college students make.

Going to mug night tonight. I'll be the designated driver for any basketball players that get silly. If any players get arrested tonight, it's my fault. If you sign up and a player gets in trouble on your day, it's your fault.

Anyhow, I think it's a good idea to always have someone being the designated driver for the players. I'll start the sign-up now.

seems like one poster thinks he's gone, and another thinks its not big deal. Everyone else is in the middle - which I feel is the right spot to be.

I think 78s nonchalance to DUI is dumber than the bye bye Matt post. Also the post about self righteousness is pretty dumb too.
 
At least this particular instance should avoid a thousandth retread of "right way" vs. "wrong way" in recruiting.
 
Did anyone hear what he actually blew?

I'll reserve judgement until then. No doubt drinking and driving is stupid, but so are college kids. But there is a big difference between a .04-.08 and VodkaSam levels.

I spent a night in the tank for blowing a .04 in Ames back in college. I was 22, had two beers between 10 and 12 and drove home at 2 am. I ultimately had charges dropped, but was still arrested for OWI. So we'll see what the details reveal.
 
There's a difference depending on BAC but not much. It's just the degree of stupid. Driving underage with any alcohol in your system is just stupid, ESPECIALLY as a Division 1 athlete.
