Another arrest

This is getting to be a bit stupid. Distracted driving and drunk driving are both bad. Drunk driving is illegal. Matt shouldn't have done it. Abdul shouldn't have done it. Hopefully neither do it again.

At some point it ceases to be our business. It's their business and their family's business and Fred's business. The legal stuff will play out. If you feel strongly enough about drunk driving that you can't support Iowa State basketball, so be it.

Some people are on here sounding like idiots while they compare driving under the influence to texting/eating while driving. Just shut up. Drinking and driving is dangerous and everyone knows better. Others on here sound like complete squares that are clearly out of touch with the reality of the world we live in. Newsflash to the squares: most people that drink socially have gotten behind the wheel when they shouldn't have. It doesn't make it right, but saying a 19 year old was stupid is redundant.

Anyone who still uses the term "squares" is instantaneously irrelevant to me. If you can't move past 1960, I don't need to listen to you.

Matt's parents being upset about this is a bit different than a bunch of random message board posters belittling him when they don't even know any details.
Matt was at the Cyclone Club/Letterwinners Club golf outing with us Friday - he's a nice young man. Very engaging, very polite. Assume he was that way at the reception afterwards at Jack Trice too. I doubt that he would describe fans being disappointed in him as "belittling" him. I can ask him if you want...

ESPN just posted the story about Matt on their site. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-bas...a-state-cyclones-arrested-driving-intoxicated It's linked from their ticker on the college bball front page. That should be a pretty interesting message board to watch for a while.

Its been up for over 24 hours. I got a notification on my phone from ESPN yesterday afternoon. With more success comes more interest from ESPN. Had this happened 5 years ago, ESPN probably wouldn't of touched it.

My money is they saw the bad brake light... pulled him over for that, and then they had reasonable suspicion that he had been drinking. Being under 21 anything above a .00 I think they can call an OWI. This sucks. Start the year no Thomas, No McKay, no Nader...

We'll probably only win each game by 15 now.

I'll just stay home to save myself the embarrassment

Even a lot of posts from those on their high horse about others on their high horses!

I think a more important question is which causes more deaths:
* Drunk Driving
* Or high horse riding. I've never heard of any stoner horse deaths, so alochol wins again.

Better to get these things out of the way early. Sooner or later a good % of the people that D&D are going to get popped. For most intelligent people an easy way to stop D&D is to get an OWI. Glad no one got hurt.

It's the offseason. There's really not anything to use to update your college basketball website with unless a recruit/transfer signs, teams schedule games, a coach gets hired/fired or a player gets arrested.
