49ers - Brock Purdy - Still and Always #1

It's a pipe dream for me to have Purdy play for the Vikings ;) I think he is an upgrade over Cousins and his age and mobility are a big reason why
I agree. I would go to over half the games in US Bank if he did. But you and I both know it’s better for his career for him to stay the hell out of Minnesota.

Is it really? I think it’s better for his career for him to leave SF.

In an absolute perfect world, he’d play in a dome. His hands are only in the 24th percentile for NFL QBs and struggles a bit more than those with similar hand size (9.25 inches) with a wet ball.

The talent, team composition, organization, winning attitude and history is far better where he is. His career will be better overall just staying where he is. I would like to see him work with the glove a bit and get better at handling a wet ball. It's just something he needs to get used to. Playoff weather can be really ugly.

Once Purdy obtains the experience and self confidence to take over a game/place the game in his hands (similar to Mahomes), he will be more heavily critiqued. Two fantastic years, let him build his mental capacity/confidence.

Same hand size as Mahomes
The hands are over blown. But I'd like to see him get used to the glove for the rain. Kurt Warner played with gloves routinely. Especially in wet weather. I just think he has to get used to the feel more and not take it off so soon. He should practice that in the off season. Dunk a ball in cold ice water, turn the sprinklers on, get wet and throw the ball around. With a glove. Get used to the touch and feel and accuracy with it. I think it's a much better grip on a wet ball. He just needs practice.

Brock had the chance to be mvp but he threw 4 picks against the ravens on Christmas. Fair or unfair, he lost the mvp that day.
Agree110%... yet 2 were tipped, and landed (perfectly) into Raven's defender hands.
Not an excuse, yet,
pretty sure, Brock will improve, given his mindset/maturity.
Lynch-Kyle...please find an o-lineman or two.

It shouldn’t have come down to that game. It is a season MVP award not for a game. When was the last time QB that led the league in QBR and yard per pass attempt didn’t win the MVP award?

More of my NFL ignorance or display:

1 - I continue to read mention that the 49ers will have to pay BP after the coming season. Is this the case, even though he'll a fourth year on his rookie contract to go?

2 - Do you have an idea how much (or little) he'll get? Will the '9ers have to jockey other contracts around, weaken themselves in other areas, or will BP not kill the cap with what he can get?

The Vikings, they'd love to have Fran Tarkenton v 2.0 ;)
Rookies can renegotiate after year 3. They can extend extra years with the salary staying at the same level for the fourth, but what does every player get????? A signing bonus. They can roster bonus something so days after year 5 kicks in but they haven’t done anything he gets basically a 4th year bonus. Lots of ways around the 4th year locked in wage thing.
