Good god this chicken little bs is tired. We could have and probably should have won the game. We went full ISU and lost. This game needs to be played every year.

As the last game of the season.

Or drop it, that the choices.

It should be all about the Big 12 and getting into the championship game at the end of the year. The only criticism I have about our fan base is that we have bigger crowds for UNI and Iowa than we do for meaningful conference games in November. Don't want to hear the blather about it being to cold to go to games in November. Those games should be more important than the NON conference Iowa game.

So 80 year old people and families with 4 year olds are bad people because they think it’s too cold to sit there for 4 hours? Get a clue. It’s understandable if some people just can’t make it.

Now how about not having 10k for visitors. That loosens up the crowd also. Had several hawks that wandered down around me last night from their bought seats.

Meh, Iowa is a solid P5 for the non con and it's convenient. But "good for the state" is stupid. It's good for Ames and Iowa City.

I’ve said this for 20+ years but Iowa and uni will consistently draw the biggest crowds. It’s a big thing for our fanbase and that’s fine. As long as we win.

agree with that. Don't understand the argument for not scheduling them. People saying we shouldn't schedule Iowa are just ticked off that we keep losing to them even though they won't admit it.

I'd like to see a 6 year rotation of Iowa, Nebraska, and Minnesota. Play local teams that aren't always the same. But I don't see dropping Iowa completely.

The place was 98% full after three hours of rain delays. How many people do you think would stay if that would happen against ULM next week? How many people are going to sell tickets for next to nothing next week? It will probably be hard to even give them away. I am sick of losing to them but honestly except for the final score it was a pretty fun day.

BTW ... if anyone is giving away free tickets for next week, I'm still looking!!! :)

I totally get it. I don’t care and think it’s not relevant. IMO this athletic department should be doing things that benefit the program not the state.

This is also not even mentioning the fans on both sides that just cannot handle themselves with any sort of class. I had some terrible interactions with rival fans yesterday without doing anything. “Well it’s a rivalry”. I’m almost 40 years old. I have no desire to deal with the human embodiment of a twitter troll.

My Response is dont blame the athletic dept in place now for this debacle that was set up my Jonnie Hammond a state rep from Ames, who was going to cut off funding for the U of I...Until the hoks would agree to play ISU....that is what led to the devastating run of very bad football in JTS......I will leave you with a Quote from CMC, "as a staff we have to get this rivalry thing figured out." I think that Coach is right on in that assessment...

I think we should continue to play Iowa every year. But I ******* hate everything about this game.

When we lose, I know my text inbox and Facebook page will be overloaded with my TavernHok family and friends talking ****, and when we win I feel nothing but relief that I don’t have to deal with my TavernHok family and friends. I don’t get any enjoyment out of this game, even when we win.

Ya and one Team should not come off a bye while the other is playing a conference game. Make everything as equal as possible. By the next game ISU fan will have had THREE WEEKS of nothing but the CyHawk crap to chew on. I’m tuning out this week I’m spent. And then we have freaking UL-Monroe. I like how the Big 10 has sprinkled in conference games so early we need to do that.

For the record, our fan base has just as many douchebags looking for a fight. I was embarrassed by some of the Cyclone fans around us yesterday.

Who could've thought ass holes don't mix and that ass holes with alcohol REALLY don't mix?
The most annoying fan interactions I had were with ISU fans. Had a large and drunk ISU woman fall down two rows into me during one of the weather evacuations. As she is laying on the ground she begins to yell at everyone around her. I picked her up and didn't even get a sorry or thank you.

Also in the last few minutes of the game I went down to the lower level to watch so I could make a fast exit out of there. Ended up standing next to a very loud ignorant ISU fan who would not shut up.

All I heard from Iowa fans was a bunch of them yelling go hawks to each other. Annoying to be sure but they all left me alone.

I’m honestly sick of media members saying this.

This game might be good for the state but I am 100% convinced it’s bad for Iowa State. Gameday was great.

Ultimately anybody who survived that crucible in Ames yesterday left just exhausted and defeated. When the punt turnover happened nobody yelled. There was no “oh no!” Shout. Everybody just shambled out of the stadium like it was the zombie apocalypse.

Losing games like this and losing consistently in the noncon is bad for Iowa State. We sell plenty of tickets with or without Iowa. The AD is funded by the TV contracts.

If this sounds like a scared to play Iowa or something post... it is. Playing them is a 50/50 win chance at best. The last decade they’ve won much more than that. Convince me this game is good for Iowa State.

It's fun

Our fan base isn’t that large so you lose lots of the women and children when the weather gets cold

All true. Again, I don’t care. Limping into each season with noncon losses is bad.

We’ve done that consistently. So you’re argument is that this is good for Iowa State because we probably should have won this one game but didn’t. Noted.

You are acting like a petulant little toddler after 1 loss. Get over it, who would you to replace Iowa with? South Alabama, Youngstown State? Get over it

The game should be played every year. Not playing makes about as much sense as Rutgers being a Big Ten team or Mizzou in the SEC.

This little streak they’ve put together will come to an end soon. For some perspective, here is a brief summary of the current 5 year streak:

2015 - Rhoads’ final year. Some talent but not a good college football team.
2016 - Campbell’s first team in second game of season. Not ready for anything.
2017 - Playing a QB who left the team two weeks later.
2018 - Brock who? And first game of season after lightning cancellation.
2019 - You saw the game yesterday.

Iowa has a coach who has been there 21 years and will soon replace him with his son. They are going to win more often than not when you compare that to the majority of the scenarios in the 5 years highlighted above. If Campbell sticks around, things will move back towards 50/50. Iowa State football sadly took too long to turn a corner after hitting scene in early 2000s and there were too many duds and coaching changes in the middle.
