.

Plenty of teams lose guys. It becomes an issue when your **** for brains staff and front office shell out tons of $ and high picks on defense, built zero OL front line talent OR depth with a QB that can't move holds on to the ball too long and fumbles all the time. Rhodes is massively overpaid and overrated. He is good, but even games he's not out with injury he is constantly missing series. If a game is called tight he's not all that effective.
Where would this piece of **** offense be if they didn't fall completely ass backwards into possibly their best offensive player? DeFilipo is garbage.
Lot to digest here, but I agree with you for the most part.

Last Vikings rant - late round drafting has been absolutely horrible. Rounds 4-7 have been a total disaster. You've Diggs, a couple role guys, but mostly lots and lots of guys that do not contribute over the last several years.
What they have done well is largely avoided busts when picking defensive players in the first round.

Fire Flip and the ST coach and hope to get some help in free agency. Then draft the following players:

Rd 1 - OT David Edwards (Wisconsin)
Rd 2 - DT Christian Wilkins (Clemson)
Rd 3 - OG Ross Pierschbacher (Alabama)
Rd 4 - LB Terrill Hanks (New Mexico State)
Rd 5 - WR Emmanuel Hall (Mizzou)
Rd 6 - QB Brett Rypien (Boise State)

Do they need to take a DT that high? The interior defensive line is pretty stout. The Seahawks were killing it on the edge last night. I agree with the first pick though.

RIP vikes. Superbowl contender to not making the playoffs the following year. The biggest things that changed is adding a franchise QB and getting our star running back back.

Defense has been really banged up all year, but that isn't the issue. Its almost like the team lost interest this year.

My rant is also on the uneven play calling...pass when you should run and run when you should pass. They would string together 3-4 plays and then call 3 stinkers. Not sure if it is coaching or simply disinterest. Very frustrating.

Living this close I get plenty of Vikes coverage even though I'm a Packers fan. Question for the Purple fans. Why did you dump Case Keenum and go get Cousins? I am not saying Keenum was a world beater, but he did get you into the Conference Finals. Think it would have been a great time to keep him and draft a future qb early. How am I seeing this wrong?

The quarterback position is not really something I'm concerned about. The offensive line is terrible. The secondary is starting an undrafted rookie because of all the injuries. The OC doesn't appear to have a game plan. Wasted a draft pick on a kicker that was cut after two games. I could keep going but the QB position is not even close to the biggest issue with this team.

As a Bear fan I have been there so many times the last twenty years. Just know I feel what you are going through.

My understanding is the decision on Keenum was based solely on his performance in the NFC Championship game. Basically they decided he wouldn't be up to the task in big game situations. So you go for Cousins(?).

They were right, and no.

I can’t believe I actually agree with this statement, but too many mistakes by the entire team to be acceptable.

Reminds me of Rhodes final year at Iowa State…

I must have missed the Rhodes era so many speak of at ISU. For the life of me I cant remember it

They were going to have to pay Keenum about 3x what they paid him last year (which is still significantly less than they are paying Cousins) Keenum isn't exactly tearing it up with Denver this season either. I don't think Cousins play is the problem, although he's not worth the $30mill. I think the largest hit was losing the offensive coordinator to the Giants. He was able to somewhat cover up the horrible offensive line and average QB play last year. There is a reason he got offered a head coaching job after last season.

Even though the ownership has changed hands a couple of times over the years the Vikings have always had a hard on for other teams used up QBs.

The only QB I can think of that they really have a shot internally was Culpepper. Hell they even had Brad Johnson for what, 7 years, but always brought in a used up vet in front of him. Then they decided to give Johnson a shot after he won at Tampa Bay and got old.

Obviously Bridgewater got a tough break or who knows what would have happened there, but I feel the front office spend their time perusing the Monday morning paper, looking at other teams QBs who are past their prime to bring to the Vikings, instead of evaluating someone for the draft.

It’s a cycle of not developing QBs I feel they are stuck in for some reason.

I agree 100%. Cousins is not Rodgers or Brady, but he doesn't need to be, either. With even an average OL and game plan, Cousins is accurate which is all they need. The OL is a glaring weakness on this team and everyone knew it going into the season. Shame on the GM for not addressing it AT ALL.

Keenum would be just as bad, if not worse than Cousins for MN this season. The problem isn't the QB by himself. Cousins rarely has time to let plays develop due to a bad OL. The lack of an OL and running game means teams aren't biting on play action plays so he gets a quick drop and has to go to his safety release almost every time.
