A decade ago at random ISU football game, I remember walking up the stairs into the stadium at the west entrance and passing Senator Grassley walking in. All by himself like a regular fan attending a game. I truly miss those days.

Yeah, it's always been the fact that all 9 Big 12 teams + Iowa + FCS/G5 has generally been the #3 to #20 ranked schedule every year. In large part because the SEC teams play 8 games with 4 non conf and the bottom half of their league is overrated. If every SEC team played 9 SEC games plus a top 30 Big Ten team you'd have seen SEC teams jump Big 12 in SOS.
In next version of Big 12 certainly there will be some years were the new 9 teams out of 15 possible are close to the 9 easiest and ISU gets a truly cake schedule some year. I'm dreaming of it to be honest, we generally get no credit the years we end up with a top 5 or top 10 schedule. Give me a #68 SOS and rack up some easier wins.
In basketball the schedules will be unfair from team to team, but even the weakest schedule is still going to be elite nationally.

Last year's total yards allowed nationally not accounting for schedule strength (ISU had top ten schedule strength and lots of these teams were outside top 30).

He could make an argument they play a lot of top defenses, but I'm not sure how anybody argues ISU's defense hasn't been solid.

Relegation hasn’t been on the table in my lifetime, if ever. Who knows though in 10-15 years maybe?
