Yes, what he’s forgetting is that FSU played OOC games against TWO SEC teams this year, FSU and Florida, and won them both.

Im not sure what the committee would be trying to say if they denied an undefeated P5 champion with 2 SEC wins a spot in the playoffs.

Yeah, but a year or two ago, it was said, each committee gets to use their own rules and interpret them how they want to. That means, they get to pick whoever they think looks pretty.

It's the lesser of two evils. I will root for TX to make the CFP's, begrudgingly.

They have a strong case to be in the final 4 this year.

Most likely because OSU or OU would be picked for a NY6 also. It would slide everyone up the pecking order and each step up is more per bowl.

Even the ACC beat up on the SEC in the non con this year. The SEC was not some kind of juggernaut. The mystique is big though, never mind the favorable scheduling, only 8 conference games and they lost their fair share of non con matchups. It is not their birthright to have a playoff spot. And to say that Bama is a better team now than in week 2, well, they didn't look so hot last week and if Auburn would have field a punt late in the game, Bama would be out. Oh, and lastly and this has been mentioned of course, TEXAS BEAT THEM DOWN! Bama couldn't run the ball and they couldn't stop the run. If that game doesn't count, then why should any school risk anything by scheduling a tough non con game. Michigan didn't, their non con was pathetic.

Texas scheduled Alabama, then beat them on the road. FSU scheduled LSU and Florida, and beat them. Not counting those games as reasons to lift them into the CFP is simply telling every program not to schedule meaningful nonconference games … your path to the playoff is taking care of business in your conference (especially when you can play as few conference games as you can get away with) while feasting on Chattanoogas and Charleston Southerns and Abilene Christians. The committee would be saying the regular season doesn’t make any difference - just get ranked high enough in the preseason and only schedule teams you can beat.

Possible that OU creeps up to #11. That could mean a NY6 Bowl. Maybe Penn State out? Who has Penn State beaten? Nobody ranked. Except Iowa.

Following a rough guess of what the CFP rankings are going to be.

Which obviously has a bias towards the SEC.

A two-loss Oklahoma might have had a chance depending on how its lobbying goes.

I forgot Florida State beat LSU and Florida in the non-con. Watch though, the committee will say the SEC was down this year so those wins weren't that impressive, while simultaneously putting Alabama in over FSU.

Yes, if it’s actually based on resumes it would prob be:
Michigan, Washington, FSU and Texas.

FSUs problem is that while they took care of business in non con, the rest of the league drug them down.

It was pretty amazing to see the media’s narrative turn in real time. Leading into Friday it was “ok who will get the 4th spot, Texas, Oregon, or Ohio State”.

Then Washington won, so it was going to be Ohio State or Texas for the final spot. Then Texas dominated and Bama took the lead on Georgia and the media had a collective “oh **** the SEC could be left out!”.

So they turned their sights on poor FSU, who no one was even talking about being in danger leading into the weekend

I still think the committee will do the right thing and go Michigan, Washington, Texas, FSU.

Great point!! I sure as heck hope that the Committee remembers that!! IF the committee is willing to overlook the TX loss to OU and Bama losses to TX and put them in, how about Oregon who's only losses being to Washington by 3 points each time---a team that very well might win it all!! How will that look to the Committee?
