2022 Recruiting/Transfer Class

Would it be helpful to merge the two transfer threads? Or is the focus slightly different for each and should be kept separate? Just curious ... I check both occasionally and sometimes can't recall which I've viewed.
This thread is more about our targets and interest in players to help keep track of everything cyclone related while the other is transfers in general

Any reason to recruit HS players other than future relationship in transfer portal.? I'm serious.
I don't think there is any reason to recruit a "project" player anymore.

I wonder if we will see coaches working together to stash some of these types at low majors, similar to how they used to try and stash them at a JUCO. For example TJ has a quick recruiting call with a kid but steers him towards D-Rob at Cleveland State, then if he progresses in a year or two TJ has the relationship with the player and coach to bring them in.

The only problem with that is if D-Rob is sending his best players to TJ, D-Rob will be an assistant coach at ISU in about 3-4 years:)

I think schools are going to need to figure out how to develop more of a connection between student-athletes and their university. If the relationship is all about sport, then they are bound to feel like a commodity open to the highest bidders.

In before some other poster suggests- NO hookers & blow is not an option. Although I think Louisville did try the former.

Haven't seen this posted yet - quick turnaround from portal to visit. Chris Williams posted our interest immediately after he declared:

Interesting. For AJ being a lock we are bringing in tons of guards but want

Yeah, anyone saying Robert Jones wasn't a good player for us last year has a pretty selective memory. He played a lot of important minutes as the year went on, played solid defense, and even scored some key baskets. Obviously he had some bad mistakes too, but so did everyone on that team.
TJ trusts him and the new guys are going to have to come in and take that playing time by force if they want to unseat Jones. I hope they do, because that's a good sign for the direction of our team.
I'm not saying he didn't do good things. He played 15+ minutes a night, so he should of done a handful of good thing ga for us. All I'm Saying is if he doesn't play at all that would be ideal for our team.

He can't move his feet laterally, he doesn't protect the rim, he can't dribble, or facilitate, and he definitely can't shoot the ball. Hell he isn't even a great rebounder, because he can't out jump other bigs.

IMO there isn't a scenario where player like that should see the floor at a P5/P6 School. I'm not a D1 athlete, so I'm not trying to bash him. But he was suppose to be a "Banger" someone who roughed up some other bigs, and he rarely did that, especially in conference play.
