2019 Women's World Cup

Defending Bronze is part of it, but Press could also be great at attacking that space on the left at speed when Bronze gets caught upfield in the attack. I would also not be surprised to see a Rapinoe for Alex Morgan sub at some point if England takes a page from Spain and plays hack-a-Alex. Press could easily move to the middle later in the game.
Spain should have earned a red card for that performance. It was a lot of different players but that one deserved a yellow much earlier and a red if she continued.

I like Press a lot. She is a burner down that left sideline and will occupy Bronze. She seems to connect well with Morgan, too.

Pinoe logged a lot of tough minutes. I'm sure she'll be available (provided there is not an injury) to sub if needed, but starting fresh legs against England may be the best move.

I like the switch to start Horan and shift Lavelle to the left side. With that speed on the left, I think England has to pay attention, which could open things up for Tobin to do some damage.

Let's start with another early goal!

Rapinoe isn’t warming up at all. Still has the jacket on. If she was going to play in this game she would still warm up. So either she’s resting this entire game for sure or she’s hurt.

I get there's some gamesmanship to not commenting about potentially injured players when the lineup was announced, but simply from a fan sanity aspect, I like how England came out and said their number 1 keeper has a hamstring injury instead of leaving people speculating.

A lot of fans expect a lot of things they have no business expecting.

They can either lie about the injury, tell the truth about the i jury and put a Target on it, or just not say anything. Easy choice. It’s different for a GK.

The prevailing thought process I've seen is that Press is faster and a better defender and England's right back Lucy Bronze is one of the best players in the world.

Not sure I agree with the switch or that's actually Ellis' logic (mostly because she doesn't seem to have any), but that's what the actual soccer people seem to think.
One of the best players in the world caught napping.

I understand why they wouldn't comment and I have no expectations that they'd divulge any info that may give them any advantage. Simply living in the fantasy land where it'd be nice to not always deal with speculation.

I didn't mean you specifically. There are a lot out there who have way overblown expectations from a team simply because they follow the team.
