Stadium construction ...

I literally just noticed this thread the other day and with Foster opening tomorrow night I thought I'd post it since this is a Big XII page.
Truly didn't think I'd get you into your Brain Stem so deeply. Happy New Year

2017 and 2018 average football attendance was lower than 45000. Not season sell outs.

Those numbers are public even if a lot of what happens behind Baylors doors don’t have to be.

Seats in that place are steep. Cannot believe that school has an MBB national title and a 7k seat arena. Also sounds like they stole ISU’s siren before the tip

Cameron Indoor has like 9.5k capacity and they have how many national championships? Better to have a small full stadium than a large empty one.

It appears like the students are on the side instead of behind the basket. Seems weird and not great.
They put the student section right behind the visiting team bench (which seems like a bad idea) and the end of the court, and put the band directly across the court from the visiting bench. They are trying to make it so the visiting team can't hear anything. Might work if students show up.

If you are impressed with the new Baylor facility may I introduce you to.....the Mcleod Center.

At UNI basically the same size as the Mighty Baylor's. :D

Why is Baylor in the Big 12?

I have been asking that question since 1996...

EDIT: To be fair I actually did know why:

I'm sorry, I just can't help it. When I see grown assed adults do the shooters, horns up, EMAW, or bear claw like in this video I think it looks absolutely stupid. I guess it is good though since those fan bases can't clap and make noise with their hands while they are doing it so they can't get as loud as we can without stupid hand gestures.

Don't forget the dumbest one of all IMO, the horned frog!

Got to thinking about this so I looked up the A&M "Gig 'em" along with a thumbs up and ended up down a rabbit hole of "Aggie Terminolgy". Holy hell, I get creeped out everytime I see their stuff. Each class has its own creepy hand signal and whoop in addition to the yell leader stuff that makes me want to look for my kids to make sure they are away from creepers.

I've been noticing sirens playing during all kinds of sports broadcasts lately. Don't know if they've always been there and I didn't notice or if more places are doing it. Numerous non-ISU college football and basketball games. Even noticed in some NFL games. The Washington Commanders were playing sirens before 3rd down defense plays against the 49ers on Sunday. I feel like ISU was one of the early users of playing sirens but I don't want to pull a Hawkeye and claim we invented every little thing in sports. Did like TexasTech play AirRaid sirens during the Mike Leach years?

But can we still do the Wichita state hand gesture?

I went on a campus visit to TCU back in high school. I remember they taught the tour group the hand sign. The instructions were: make a peace sign, now make it fierce. I could barely contain my laughter with my parents.

For a while after I would tell my parents when I saw them. Make a peace sign and now make it fierce.

I still dont get what it is with Texas schools and stupid hand gestures.

Its gotta be the dumbest thing in sports.

Hasn't Michigan State had that set up for years without issue?
i don't know how baylor handles it but from everything i know about the Izzone (MSU student section) is very strict about who can sit in the lower section. for example, you need to have pretty much perfect attendance for all games the season before and you are require doing events like a campout. You also can't be a first-year student.

I'm sure some of this stuff weeds out the bad apples since it is tough to get in the lower section that it might prevent any behavior which would ban you from getting a seat there again.

If Baylor does something similar it probably won't be an issue.

It's small enough they can probably start over. Minor error.

Builders call this 'cost plus'.

We used to have a place in Des Moines that looked just like this, we tore it down because we built Wells Fargo. It was called Vets. Drake Basketball used to play in it. I also saw Kiss and Metallica and several other bands play in it.
