*** Official Iowa vs IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

Only said his handles are better than Tinsley's. JT finished at the bucket better, had better floor vision, was stronger, and rebounded better. I'm a big Tinsley fan and believe he's the best guard to ever suit up for ISU. Gilbert's dribbling is some of the best I've seen on any roster is all I'm saying. Good debate to have if we're comparing him to Tinsley.
His handles aren’t close to Tinsley

Watching now and the renewed energy and overall game were fantastic. The general feel of the team at DePaul and last night are vastly different from two weeks ago.

Another 'good' thing is ISU got pretty sloppy in the stretch in the 2nd half so the coaches have plenty of film for things to work on in that 'we still got plenty of work to do' kinda way.

Another note on the 'ISU played their starters late' thing:

ISU basically sat on the ball when they broke the press except for the last bucket.

And it's not like Iowa cleared their bench to a bunch of 3rd stringers; it was guys who do and will play for them.

A lot of great moments throughout the game, but 5 points in 4 seconds was pretty awesome!

And Lipsey's play, to leap, catch, and pass was spectacular!
Just to note, Lipsey had to get rid of the ball before he landed. Because he leapt from the front court and caught the ball in the air, had he landed in the back court it would have been an over-and-back violation. Very smart move on his part to realize that and get rid of of the ball quickly.

Lipsey was a freak on the football field, QB. And punt returns. Nobody could touch him. Multi talented and smart athlete.
So that leap, catch and pass play is child's play to him. Lucky us.
Would have been solid 5 star BB if hadn't lost so much time with that serious injury.
All blue blood schools would have been hounding him up to signing ... just like Barnes.

Art. 9. A defensive player shall be permitted to secure control of the ball while both feet are off the playing court and land with one or both feet in the backcourt. It makes no difference if the first foot down was in the frontcourt or backcourt.

Art. 10. After a jump ball or during a throw-in, the player in the frontcourt, who makes the initial touch on the ball while both feet are off the playing court, may be the first to secure control of the ball and land with one or both feet in the backcourt. It makes no difference if the first foot down was in the frontcourt or backcourt.

Did you just say Gilbert is a better ball handler than Tinsley? Are you high when you watch basketball?

Look, all you have to say is he has good handles or really good and you're probably not going to get much disagreement. It's when you start saying "best ever" type of stuff you are inviting a debate. So don't get pissy when you get one.
You're digging up youtube vids on a player that was at ISU 20+ years ago to argue Gilbert doesn't have the best handles in ISU history. Ok, you have to pull Tinsley into the conversion to make an argument. Anyone else? He'd be the only one I can think of. Good company as I've mentioned. Dig up a youtube vid of Gilbert going behind his back to King while you're researching youtube.
