*** Official Iowa vs IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

The Iowa player attempted to bounce the ball off Milan's back similar to what Iowa State did against Woodbury. However, he missed milan and just threw it out of bounds.

That's up there with Bobo doing the Niang kiss early 1st half two years ago just before ISU started to really swamp them.

I like how he looked at the ref while he was fouling Rob on the second intentional, just begging him for mercy lol!
I think he knew he was fouling Rob and fully expected to be called for a second intentional but simply didn't know what else he could/should do. He was out of position, undersized, and was about be put on a poster.

I was hoping Rob dunked it and the hawk got a face full of jock strap.

What exactly happened on the play where the Iowa guy (don't recall his number, but he was skinny and white) was inbounding the ball from the baseline and he sort of lazily just threw it out of bounds?
I don't know if the humor was intended trying to identify a Hawkeye player by describing him as "skinny and white", but it gave me a really good laugh either way.

The shocker for me last night was seeing the talent gap between the two teams. I seriously don't think any Hawk would get major minutes on our team. Sandfort would get about the same as Jackson. Perkins would get some minutes behind Lipsey. However, the rest of the team basically is mid major. Krikke is not a good player at all. He has decent numbers on a Valpo team that got steam rolled by everyone they played with a pulse. The freshman center has potential. The Bowen kid should have got more minutes. OTher than that. I didn't see anyone on that team that was worth anything. Big Rob and King tore up the middle. Very strange that Iowa is that far down in talent.
Fran signing Pryce Sandfort was when I realized he’s just a lazy recruiter. Doesn’t have to work to get the kid, fits the stereotype and hopes a one dimensional player/shooter will turn into an all around player.

My son is younger than Pryce (still in high school) but has played against him through AAU and just open gym type stuff and practices for years. Most kids of that group still can’t figure out how Pryce went to Iowa except for his older brother. Hell of a shooter if he had an open shot but is not strong or overly athletic. Last night he and his buddies were talking about how everyone could easily physically dominate him and how easy it was to shut him down or score on him in pick up games.

Last night we saw a team that 80% of the roster fit that description.

Thoughts from this game:

- We need to see us play someone with a defensive pulse - but it really looks to me like the coaches decided to completely flip their strategy on the style of play. It's our 3rd game in a row with a pace of 75+ possessions, and the only games like that we've had since the Memphis game in the first month of TJ's tenure. It appears that while in Orlando, they took the reins off and decided that this team is best equipped to push the pace and run. The faster pace applies to defense as well, where I think they are more focused on forcing the action quicker, either through a turnover or a quick shot.

- It's amazing we scored 90 with Milan's worst game and Tamin never having to take over. I loved the strategy of pounding it inside - and then Gilbert just dominates for a bit.

- Pav looks really good. His shot will come around, but I love his attacking mentality, he really pushes things on both ends and is very smooth.

- With his 3-3 night, Gilbert is up to 38% on 3s, exactly what he shot last year. He's been really good and if he keeps up being aggressive and pushing the ball, it'll be huge for this team

- As others have said, shout out to King and Big Rob for dominating the paint. Hopefully they can get Hasan back soon
