F*CK IOWA

So Iowa hasn’t been successful at football the past 20 years?
It has but now it is lacking big time on offense. That is going to catch up to them at some time. You have to adapt in sports. You just cannot score 14 points a game and luck in to wins all the time.

If you're trying to guess what Iowa would look like playing Iowa State's schedule, remember they would be playing at least 5 QBs better than any QB they faced in their conference games.
Bean, Ewers, Gabriel, Howard, Shapen are all better than...I guess Allar was technically the best? Yeesh.

Yet Iowa had a better season than ISU. Doesn’t make much sense.
Wow. This isn’t rocket science. Show me anywhere, where UI had a tougher schedule than ISU. Spoiler alert, it doesn’t exist.

If Iowa state had Iowas schedule this year, they’re probably a top 15 ranking, and playing in the B1G championship game. Bring up the Ohio game all you want, but Ohio would beat 25% of the B1G West.

I think most fans know that they had a fortunate schedule and I’ve even admitted as much. What else do you want?
To accept the team was also fortunate to be 10-2 even with that schedule. They were 4-1 in games that were decided in the final minutes, against below average P5 teams. Statistically speaking, such games would correlate to a 2-3 or 3-2 record more times than 4-1. So Iowa’s 10 win season would be 8-4 or 9-3 in most other seasons. Then you factor their horrific schedule, which would lead to another 1 or 2 losses if they played an average P5 schedule.

Bottom line, this Iowa team really correlates to a 7 win P5 team.

All was a huge loss.

Iowa won't be playing with four of their top players on Saturday. All, Lachey, DeJean and McNamara are huge losses. They would already be a huge underdog even with those guys, but without them, they hardly have a shot at all.

Nice that your making your excuses early. Is the football the wrong brand also.

I agree that Iowa isn’t your typical 10-2 team and they took advantage of their schedule that they had zero control over. But I also feel because of their head to head win over ISU and ISU’s loss to OHio that they would have won at least 8 games if not more with ISU’s schedule.

Also, the NFL always has a lot of games that could go either way. The league is setup for parity.

Ohio/Iowa would be a toss up.

Ohio/Iowa would be a toss up.

@iahawks Ohio is 9-3 and ranked 4th in defense. Does that count or only if you play against the whirlwind offenses of the B1G west? If Iowa's QB is throwing up and their all-conference receiver isn't playing, does that make it a tough game?

Do you think Iowa would cruise? Which opponent is a tougher out? Ohio or Utah State? Purdue or Kansas? Michigan State or either of OU/Texas?

Ohio actually would beat a lot of those teams. They could beat Minnesota anyway. LOL.....

Iowa fans know the reality. They will probably get their asses handed to them Saturday night by a great team and they are better than ISU this year.
Reality? Cue the crying on the fair catch rule again by Kirk and media.

Please tell me how many current top 25 teams Iowa has played and their record. Let me help you with that.
One.

0-1 getting their "average" asses spanked by yet another B1G East team. 31-0! Suck a fat one!!

It would probably be a competitive game but I don't think many if any would pick ohio to win. They certainly would be underdogs. Toledo is a better team than Ohio and they lost to Illinois just as a comparison. Miami Ohio is better than Ohio and they got beat badly to a ok Miami team. The jump to power 5 is bigger than it used to be with the portal/nil

Obviously the Iowa State opponents you're switching for are tougher but what's difference of doing reverse? Who's a tougher out Penn state or Cincinnati? Iowa state had a tougher schedule I think everyone on both sides acknowledge that. I think Iowa State fans talking themselves into identical records if the teams flipped schedules is where the disagreement is.

I don't think Iowa and Ohio would be a tossup. Ohio was a decent mid-major team, but lost to a terrible San Diego St. team (albeit without their QB for most of the game) and never really outshined anyone in the mid-American conference.

I know all about Ohio because I won a sizeable future bet taking the over on their wins this year, which was at 7.5. So I followed them pretty close all year.
