F*CK IOWA

Fair enough and really both teams did an admirable job of replacing them but the conversation was regarding this upcoming game. Regardless of what offense has been I'd still rather play michigan with those guys.
You mean you'd rather play a game with your best players healthy? Huh. Interesting take

Humor me, What would Iowa state be with Iowa’s?
9-10 wins. Do you understand how bad Iowa's schedule was? And remember, Iowa needed scores with under 4 minutes to play to beat 4 teams rated #47 or worse. with three of them rated #68 or worse. These ratings come from athlon sports. But go ahead and use any reputable rating.. the point remains that Iowa barely defeated four very poor teams

And ISU lost to Ohio and this same Iowa team.

ISU lost to an Ohio team with about 12 to 15 players puking their guts out while playing a football game. Have you ever had food poisoning or a stomach bug? Now try playing a football game while having the illness

ISU lost to a full strength Iowa team with ISU having to break in 4 new players at key positions. It shouldn't shock anyone Iowa won that game.

And yet, Iowa barely squeaked by Nebraska, Illinois, Northwestern, and Michigan State, all of which were either tied or ahead of Iowa with 4 minutes to play. Quite impressive

I'd trade Utah State for Ohio.

Purdue for KU, and either of TX/OU for Michigan State.

I'm not saying they're auto-wins for ISU or losses for Iowa, but the feelings going in are certainly different. (Ohio had a good defense and it was knowns as a challenge on the approach).

I don't think so. Maybe 8. A true strength of schedule is impossible to tell. If you're 12-0 its very hard to have a elite SOS because you've added a loss to your whole schedule. I like SOR which compares your wins and losses to rest of field and probability of rest of teams duplicating that record. Iowa is 16th Iowa State is 30th. That seems about right. 8--4 with losses to Iowa, Penn state and 2 of the other 10 though I think they're just as good as the other 10. It's hard to beat every team or even 90% teams you should. Minnesota and ohio's happen to almost all teams.

Funny. Show me anyone who tries to say the big 10 west was difficult. Those games accounted for nearly half of Iowa’s games. Two of the three games vs the East were against poor teams.

Iowa’s schedule was horrific this year, which is why I had predicted they would win 10 games just from the schedule alone.

All was a huge loss.

Iowa won't be playing with four of their top players on Saturday. All, Lachey, DeJean and McNamara are huge losses. They would already be a huge underdog even with those guys, but without them, they hardly have a shot at all.
DeJean is a loss. No player on the offense is a loss. When you royally suck, you can’t really suck much more.

I'd argue Iowa's successful season was more based on their schedule than adapting to injuries
I’d argue those players had control of their destiny’s and screwed themselves and their teams. A little different from injuries.

Sure, yet the end result is the same. The players are unavailable to play. The team then has to rely on their depth. Iowa State at least has depth at some of their key positions; Iowa lacked such depth at certain positions where injuries occurred

Yet Iowa had a better season than ISU. Doesn’t make much sense.

I don’t think you comprehended the main reason why…. The schedule.

Your comprehension is on par with Kirk Ferentz’s comprehension of a certain rule. I guess it’s an Iowa thing

Dig a little deeper into that 10 win season.
1 - One ranked team (Penn St).
2- Two interim head coaches (NW,Sparty).
3- Three first year head coaches at their schools (Purdue,Neb,Wisc).
4 - Four true road games.
5 - Five starters out for ISU game.

Kudos for winning the games and taking advantage. I'd be thrilled too, but lets be real.
