Principal Financial-Remote work

I think "working hard" is a dumb concept. Now "working smart" on the other hand I can get behind.

You pay me to do certain duties, those are the duties I will perform and do well. if you want or expect me to do other duties then you need to compensate me for that.
Let's say you were able to complete a major task in 10 hours, but your peers averaged 18 hours to complete the same task. Shouldn't the employee who routinely outperforms their peers be compensated better? But a union doesn't give such an incentive. Each employee would be paid the same regardless how well they performed

That's good and not at all typical unless changing companies. I don't think anyone would be forced to join a union.

That was a fight in the Iowa legislature a few years back. Iowa rejected it, I believe some states have the rule that if your employer had a union, you must join.

I agree. If I complete a task efficiently in 8 hours under what I was expected to I should be rewarded. However, in the real world the reward for getting done under budget is to have you do a new task or help someone with their task. Both of which in my opinion is BS, and a major reason I left a CPA firm I used to work at.

The fairest way to get paid is commission or piece meal. You want to work 80 hours, you’re probably making more. You want to sit on CF for 7 hours a day, you’re probably getting less.

Sounds like democratic socialism with extra steps.

Which is why good companies reward employees who are highly productive. There are plenty of good companies in the real world. I mean, I work at a good company. Unless I'm working in a fantasy world :)

Is there a race car driver union? Seems like a great idea. Everyone would get to share the rewards. Seems fair to me. ;)

Nah racing is a competition and should be paid that way. I don't consider a job as a competition (although I know many do).

It probably makes sense if you are going to benefit from it. I believe Wisconsin law is otherwise (or at least don't have to pay dues) but not a union expert.

No info. Just what I see in the workplace. My company has union and non union employees. Non union employees work much harder than the union employees. It makes sense when you think about it
Go ahead and tell us where you work, and the job titles of the union and non-union employees so we know you aren't just blowing smoke.
