Iowa Beat Writers

I still think the biggest problem with Iowa's offense is the OL. Prior to 2020, Iowa's offense while not great was still decent enough for Iowa's style of play. Even the COVID year they put up points, but I'm not counting that since it was such a weird year all around. Since 2021, the OL has fallen off a lot and it has been non-existent these past two years. The only QBs that would be successful with this OL is someone who is very mobile, and obviously Cade isn't that guy at the moment.
I don’t think Cade is magically going to become fast haha.

Oh I agree, but he barely has any mobility at all. He scampered for 18 yards in the first quarter and looked gimpy as hell doing it. I don't think he will get healthy the entire year at this point.

Iowa had a great balanced offense in 2002 based around a true mobile QB in Brad Banks. For no logical reason they have never went back to that kind of QB. Also, some of the better offenses were led by QBs that could scramble to extend plays in Tate, Stanzi and Beathard. Have zero clue why Iowa refuses to get more QBs that can pose a threat running the ball.

I don’t think he’s ever had mobility. I agree, it’s odd Kirk hasn’t gone after more mobile quarterbacks. He just doesn’t like backyard football!

Ferentz has been the head coach at Iowa for 24 years now and he's under contract through 2029. He can't be forced to do anything, and he will quit before he "modernizes" his offense.

Stanley was quite the nimble mountain goat as well.

Eickholt was on Miller and Condon yesterday an he flat out sounded defeated.
He'll be back to being on the hype train and thinking they have a legit shot at winning the B1G after they beat Sparty 20-10 on Saturday.

There's literally no difference between Eickholt and a drunk fan calling into Soundoff after they drop one to rant.

That's only because he had to remove Herky's c0ck from his mouth long enough to be on the radio. Dude is the biggest douche this side of Urban Meyer.

LOL he referred to himself as a beat writer at one point which I found hilarious. He then kept saying we when referring to Iowa football.

How much animosity is there nowadays within these locker rooms with players knowing that someone like McNamara is getting all these NIL dollars and other guys aren’t getting a thing?

I would think there’s got to be quite a bit.

McNamara has the lowest completion percentage (50.6%) and efficiency rating (104.4) of any Big Ten signal-caller and ranks last, by a considerable margin, with 459 passing yards.
He was the 22nd ranked QB in the portal for a reason. I tried warning my Hok relatives and friends.

You're either playing dumb or very naïve. Regardless, appears the Swarm made a poor investment.

IMO hindsight is 20/20. Going forward, NIL groups are going to be giving tons of money to these players and some are bound to just now pan out.

I wonder how many fans are going to say enough is enough at some point when they've paid even more money into athletic departments and NIL groups and still see their team on the outside looking in.

He even admitted that the rest of Iowa's schedule is pure trash. They are in a real pickle because they should go 10-2 against weak competition but that only allows Kirk to say I told you so which is the worst thing long term for them.
