“Four draft picks on defense”?
This was the bright spot for me, in the midst of the boring betting talk (insert “beating dead horse” gif here).
I seem to recall that he tagged Tampa, Dom Orange, Onyedim and Malik Verdon.
I don’t really have too many quibbles with those, aside from the fact that Verdon was 99% projection…because Harklau is sky high on his athleticism—at 6’4” 225, Kyle Hamilton-type size.
But if he’s going so much on projection, why not Jeremiah Cooper as well? Sure, he still needs to add 10-15 pounds (a healthy offseason will take care of that), but he has a bit more experience than Verdon, is a heady player—and has blazing speed.
Or, why not include Beau Freyler? Or Myles Purchase? Because it’s hard for me to think that neither will go in seven rounds.
And that doesn’t include the totally unproven players that we’re already hearing loud noises about. Names like Ike Ezeogu, Jamison Patton, Kooper Ebel, and on and on.
I mean, seriously. The one guy set on defense I don’t think has a lot of chance of getting drafted is the one with a ton of experience—Gerry Vaughn. And that’s only because a guy with his listed 5’11” 231 frame would have to have a monster season…AND rip off a sub 4.5 40 at testing to manage it.
