Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

laugh at me for claiming "sources" but I am hearing...

AZ powers that be overwhelmingly pushing for B12 but there is more red tape to clear than CU, could be weeks rather than days. Small few want to try this ACC Hail Mary thing but vastly outnumbered. ASU somehow seems to still be of different mindset.

Heard the same "ESPN wants to stop at 16" thing before the MHver3 or whatever his name was tweeting it so maybe there is something to that beyond his usual throwing things at the wall.

Immediately stop academic cooperation? I mean this guy is just off his rocker.
Yeah if you want a full scale faculty revolt, tell them that they need to cancel projects with partners because the jocks are mad at each other. USDA, NIFA, NIH, etc wouldnt take that as a very good reason for suspending grant projects either lol. That's the most uninformed thing over ive seen a supposed journalist write.

I think part of the stop at 16 is, at least in part, leverage so PAC or whoever teams don’t think they can wait and see. Scarcity brings interest and energy.

BY has a lot of JP in him...absolutely loving this. ISU fans aren't used to this...who knows what the future holds but damn.
I am loving this too. ISU was on the canvas 2-3 times in past realignment windows like this one. I was always jealous of those other schools in the top conferences that were adding teams.....thinking how lucky they were. Now that ISU not only made it thru those potential death periods, but now we are looking down smiling at other legitimate teams wanting into "our" conference..... I never thought I would see this day.

The dude doesn't understand the top responsible parties for the Pac-12's demise:

1. Pac-12
2. Big 10
.
.
.
.
10. Big 12

The fact that they don't understand this ranking is a lot of the reason why #1 is who it is
Whoa, whoa easy there. I thought we all agreed this was all CU’s fault. Move along please, move along

Just like the Reddit sub, someone explain this to me like I am five.

What is a PAC and ACC alliance? What does it possibly solve? How can it make any more money?

I guess I don’t understand how this would solve the PACs problem. If the conferences merge, the ACC contract would be open to renegotiation. This would allow the heavy weights of that conference to move, which the others don’t want. This then goes back to the PACs original problem, which is could they get a media deal similar to the BIG12 without FSU, UNC, Clemson?

Really, it’s just something that isn’t thought out fully.

It totally makes sense to me if I look at it from Washington State and Wake Forest perspective.

Those teams never have any power though so it will do nothing.

The teams that know they are leaving and decimating conferences call all the shots until the minute they leave.

Which means it actually might happen!

So, you know how sometimes when a, uhhh, person goes through a breakup and all their single friends come together to console them….telling them they can do better and that they are a queen, etc…all while those friends are secretly DM’ing the ex about getting together sometime?

Near as I can tell that is what the alliance is.

Also a majority of the old Big 12.

BYU/Cincy very easily could have been a B12 add at any of the 'missile crisis' moments as well. TCU and Houston are rejoining SWC members.

It's really only the Pac schools and UCF that are "outside the box" from where things were and were headed before this seismic USC/UCLA change.

AZ doesn't seem like a reach at all either, seems to be natural fit in every way.

Washington and Oregon would seem just as out of place as UCF but it would be fun to figure out.

In some ways I feel like WVU is more out of place than Arizona, BYU, ASU, Utah would be. Definitely more out of place than Houston and TCU.

Well, in a perfect world, to gather more money from your TV partners, you could say, "Rather than playing East Mumford St. we will get together and play teams from another P5 conference on this specific weekend, when everyone else is playing West Mumford St. to give you some high dollar TV slots on an otherwise dead weekend. It could do something for the PAC, since they are still looking for a TV deal. The ACC though, they are kind of locked in, so, why would they make their schedules possibly harder when there is no monetary benefit to them?

It would strictly be a scheduling thing, unless you are the Big 10 and use it as a way to secretly steal a conferences two best teams. But, I don't see Clemson, Miami or FSU bolting for the PAC anytime soon.

Next up on the Stewie/Athletic Pac survival playbook, play up the prospect of adding UConn over adding more Pac-9. The good ole bait and switch technique.... respect.

Strike a death blow and kill off one of your biggest competition or add a division 2 football school. Tough choice.
