Caleb Grill has entered the portal and committed to Mizzou

Uh, Enaruna was on our team, and JCL was playing for our rivals?
Again, I have perspective that they both swapped teams. I get booing the team or the player taking the shot because it's our rival, but I'm not going to boo him solely because he transferred.
Like I said, in my opinion, we've greatly benefited over the years from the portal, so I find that booing someone, just because they transferred, ironic.

That's got to be one of the bigger turnarounds for a player to go from that bad to national title winner.
Shawn Taggert starting in a Natty sure made me question what the hell went wrong at ISU under our favorite satellite dish salesman.

Has nothing to do with Prohm. From what I heard he just quit school and cutoff his teammates right after the tourney last year. Then he's immediately in the transfer portal.

He then goes to a team with the worst basketball tradition of the 6 offers he had, then proceeds to lie to us saying money had nothing to do with it.

I'm sorry some of you guys still love Hunter, but he's a sellout imo.
I don’t think anyone is oozing love for Hunter (or exhibiting hate towards Grill). It’s more just calling out you and other posters’ obvious hypocritical stance towards the two

I think Caleb is going to be a heckuva player for someone if he gets it all right between the ears and heals up body wise.
His farewell letter seemed incredibly open and honest.

I watched a lot of BE basketball this year and a team like Xavier had excellent guard play, and they're both graduating, so I hope he chooses a spot like that where he'll get utilized and have some joy.

I guess I don't get your point then? There's only 13 guys total on a basketball team, 3 or 4 high school guys in every recruiting class. It would be hard to "forget" about players.
I was responding to someone saying that he would be "forgotten."
I don't think ISU fans, myself included, "forget" that easy.

That was pretty half-hearted or even playful compared to the seething fury over Hunter.
Yep, the two ex-clones that got by far the worst treatment are Hunter and Haluska. They were guys that would’ve been key pieces that went to the most hated teams.

Sure, JCL went to KU, but a month into the season everybody was pretty happy with what we had, and JCL wasn’t a big factor for KU.

Part of people pulling for Grill is that he hasn’t signed yet. If he goes to a hated rival, then I suspect he’s going to get plenty of flack.

Do we have a rival we hate more than Texas right now?

I'm including Iowa and K-State for football and Kansas for basketball in that.

Is anybody actually worried about Grill doing anything against us if he does go to WV or any other team we’d play next year? He’s wildly inconsistent and is pretty much a one dimensional player who isn’t quick enough to create his own look if a defender is up in his jock preventing a 3

I'm not losing any sleep over it.

I'm going to miss Jaren a lot more. He was really critical with kind of turning it around after Caleb's dismissal and had a great game at Baylor, and then followed it up with another great game in KC vs Baylor.

I think maybe what I'll miss the most about Caleb is that fiestiness he had under the rim.

Grill could easily go off for 30 against us at least once.

If Grill transfers to WVU you can pretty much gurantee he goes 8/11 on 3s against us in Mtown. Whatever he did to UNC he will do to us then put up a donut against KU.

Most, if not all, Iowa State fans were happy for Clayton Custer. Totally understandable that he didn't want to sit behind one of the best point guards in college basketball for two more years. I also don't think he would of ever been as successful had he not transferred down a level. He was 3rd team All-MVC as a senior. It wasn't like he was AJ Green.
I think you are not providing Custer the full respect he earned. While he might have been 3rd team is senior year (injury), he was selected as player of the year in the MVC has junior year (the year Loyola went to the Final 4). He had more skills than you appear to want to give him credit for. Credit to Coach Freddie for spotting those talents.

Booted from team (while being a borderline dirty player) after already transferring from a previous ISU team= good kid.
Staying committed to a program after the coach gets fired for one of the worst seasons in NCAA history, gives new coach a chance, and then transfers for a payday= punk.

Weird to me.

Most understood why Tyrese left. He didn’t come from much and a big payday was understandable. He didn’t have to pop off like he has done
