Caleb Grill has entered the portal and committed to Mizzou

No it's not, I still think Grill is a good kid, things just unraveled at the end.

On the other hand Hunter is a punk looking for a payday then trashes the program.

Huge difference, one wanted to be here, one didn't.
Booted from team (while being a borderline dirty player) after already transferring from a previous ISU team= good kid.
Staying committed to a program after the coach gets fired for one of the worst seasons in NCAA history, gives new coach a chance, and then transfers for a payday= punk.

Weird to me.

Why would you cheer for someone who broke rules and got booted? That's weird.

You do realize you don't have to cheer or hate anyone? You can just say you don't care.
I think his thinking here is...
It was Iowa State's choice to get rid of a player
Vs
A player's choice to get rid of ISU.
Scorn ISU and you won't be cheered for wherever you end up..
Personally, I don't care.

Caleb "got rid of ISU" once already though, so I don't get it. His mom at the time went on Twitter to try and give a reason/diffuse it.

Again, just weird to me. I won't cheer for either player.

Goes back to my example of Cyclone fans being in a relationship and getting dumped by Hunter vs dumping Grill. Some people can't get over it

This argument is settled by one fact: Hunter pretty much single handedly won a tournament game for Iowa St.... Grill was pretty bad last year in the tournament, and got himself kicked off the team this year before the tournament. And the team actually improved drastically the first couple games after he was booted.

I dislike that it seems like it takes trashing Grill to reach a realistic comparison of the 2 situations. I don't hate Grill. I don't hate Hunter. Both did good things for ISU. Neither is a Cyclone. I won't be cheering for, or against, either in basketball, unless they are up against ISU, in which case I'll be against whatever team they are on. I hope both go on to successful lives and understand that their time as a Cyclone contributed to their success.

Agreed, although I think I see more trashing of Hunter going on. Hell, people were pissed at an (photoshop by the way) "action" that Hunter did.

Really weird how our fans emotional stability rely solely on when a player spends their year/s here. Why, if they are recruited here and play or sit on the bench 1/2 years (Hunter, Grill, Eli, etc) they are not one of us vs players that finish their career here and play the same amount of time 1/2 years (Gabe, Brockington, Shayok, etc) they are heroes and are Cyclone legends? Those guys came to us under the exact same circumstances as the former. Just wanted to explore another opportunity.
Alright, I'll get off the soap box
