Towards the end of the game Auburn finally started to drive to the basket and Iowa did their parting of the red sea defense. It took Auburn way too long to figure that out though.
I was saying this exact thing to my wife. Iowa presses you and wants you to take early shots because they want the ball back. If you make them play defense for 20-25 seconds, eventually they'll give you an open layup because they lose interest. Auburn nearly pissed it away be playing right into Iowa's hands before figuring it out.
Once the opponent figures out how to start getting to the basket on Iowa, the game really becomes fun to watch.
I think part of why Iowa plays a lot of zone and press is because they know they don't have the quickness and athleticism to play defense straight up.
Because of this thread I listened to this morning’s Morning Rush. One caller called in to say he had to listen to the game on the radio and realized that Gary Dolphin is a terrible play by play guy. He’s too slow, calls plays late.

My dad gets a kick out listening to Dolph call games. If you try to listen, you almost have no clue what is going on.
"Petras drops back to pass. No, its a big run up the middle! Boy Eddie, these hawks are getting that running game going now! Oh wait!, it is an end-around to Arland Bruce! And the pass falls incomplete and the punt team is on the field. Let's see if Tory Taylor can work some magic!"
Well to be fair, he kind of looks like E.T.
Dolph and Eddie are horrible. I love listening to them... it's train wreck and you can't help but listen.
Not a beat writer per se but Ross Peterson said 100 different schools have been to a sweet 16 since Iowa last was.
Also not a beat writer but Hassel is arguing with some Iowa fans who believe Iowa is a better bball job than Creighton lol
I didn’t know that but it’s not surprising lol Creighton’s literally a basketball school in a conference that’s only basketball. Iowa fans in Hassel’s mentions were still calling them a mid-major..
Ask the right fans and they think everyone outside the B1G is some piddly little nobody.
The BTN has done a fantastic job of brainwashing.
It blows my mind how many times fall into that trap too.
I've said this for years. Big Ten fans have always had this attitude that the B1G is just this top to bottom meat grinder in football and basketball. BTN has absolutely fueled that ego's because it's non stop propaganda.
