So there are some unintended consequences to legalized marijuana after all...
Don't disagree that it's going to happen in the near future, but this is just the first step in their several year plan to justify leaving once the current ACC media deal is complete, or close to completion.
Caught a little of the SLC (Monty?) show. They have become unhinged and if that is their normal show, they do very little research and basically just try to do hot feeds. You can tell they are scared right now with that show.
They'll make a real push to leave before the GOR is up, but not yet. There's three factors that need to come together to make it happen:
- The closer they are to the end of the GOR, the cheaper it's going to be to buy it out. It's not going to be cheap, but buying out 5-6 years seems far more possible than 10+.
- They need to line up boosters or some other plan to pay for it. Maybe the B10 or SEC kicks in a loan like the B10 did for Maryland.
- The networks will have to be ready to ante up for another member or two in the B10 or SEC. There's some talk that the networks are maxed out at the moment, which may partially explain why the B10 only took USCLA.
Clemson, UNC and FSU all regret signing away the GOR to 2036 and will be looking to the SEC/B1G as soon as it is feasible but that wont be for 10-12 years. Despite the wishes of the left PAC10 schools.
The early comments by FSU got the PAC10 hopes up they may have options other than low market PAC10 deal or moving to the B12/PAC which is their only alternative. Not sure why those schools fans would want a trip from Miami to Washington on their schedule regardless they were advocating for it.
ISU fans all know from the OUT experience breaking the GOR is almost impossible or at least so hard no one wants to try.
Some of their fans think having Coach Sanders is their key to a B1G or SEC invite. Totally delusional lol. I kinda doubt that a conference will add a school because of a coach. They'll just steal your coach and tell you to **** off.
Exactly my thoughts. Coach Prime will be in the SEC or Big 10 some day. But not with Colorado
Didn’t catch last night’s show but that sounds about right. They’ll report about one nugget a week and spend a couple hours every day rambling on it. That’s the life of radio though I presume. I’m taking a couple day break as they were on an anti-Big 12 kick earlier this week (probably to strum up engagement). But overall they have been pretty favorable to our cause.
Are they Utah fans? That has to be appointment listening for BYU fans.
I think so, I don't listen very often or very long. Only if I hear that they were supposed to have something about B12 or PAC negotiations on.
They were trying to say the big 12 football talent was crap and we should not feel stable because we could still get poached and basically the PAC has bigger teams in their conference. They would talk about our TV rights and say the PAC is basically the same as the Big 12. They would round our 31.7 down to 31 and then use the high side for anyone else. A little thing but then include bigger things like the big ten is getting 100 and we are getting 31 so there is a 70MM difference. Not using their heads that the 100 includes TV, bowls, CCGs, playoff money, BB money and our number was just TV money.
Yeah, I have caught a few shows and they appeared to be pro-Big 12. But then 2 days ago, they discussed the Pac issues but took some shots at the Big 12. I am a homer but am fine with criticism if warranted. But seems they unnecessarily brought up issues not related to the topic at hand. They rambled back and forth every couple minutes on things too like they forgot to take their medicine.
Must be the jump hump that does it. Maybe I can ask the wife if she has a friend who is willing to jump on our bed next time to see what it's like. Will tell her to ask one of her heavier friends because they will get the bed bouncing more.
Somone posted here or in the other realignment thread (USC, UCLA to the Big 10) that it would be great to take ASU and Arizona but keep Colorado and Utah stewing for a couple years and then issue the invite. With all Utah's bashing of the Big 12, I would rather not take them. But tv talks and the Holy War of Utah-BYU would be high tv ratings so assume we would invite them.

I can kind of see the reasoning for it, you can't stream without internet, but you can watch OTA/Cable without it. In the end though, you are right. Internet service has pretty much become a utility like electric, water and gas. It's just part of most of society. So, in a way, it's like saying, look, you are spending an extra $1/day on electricity to run all of those streaming devices you have around your house.
I’m curious how unequal the ACC could get. Seems like the numbers just aren’t big enough to have a significant gap between top and bottom. Add $5m to the top teams and subtract $5m from the bottom teams? Is that enough to keep them happy? Would they be able to go more than that?
Also, and kinda funny/ironic, if they do something, aren’t they just increasing their future buyout when they inevitably want to leave early?
