For the same reason that other 'things' are real to people.
I don't think @Ayagi intended it to be anything other than an obvious joke--that or Canucks suck at photoshop.
It's so obviously bad. Yet there are a dozen posters between comments and "likes" that think it's real.
I mean, we have elected members of Congress that think George Soros is starting forest fires with his space laser. So this isn’t really shocking.

I don't have the timeline perfect but if I remember right he d*icked around trying to up his NIL payout and those blueboods moved on to other players to bring in. Texas was basically his last option other than staying at ISU.
Or it was his handler thought he was already in at one of them but he actually wasn't so he was stuck going to Texas as it was his only $$ option. I the discussion on this board and the only reason texas made sense was money. They had no program history, no track record of getting guards to the NBA and no recent tourney success.
Plus he was a relatively poor fit for what they already had on the roster.
He was a good fit for Beard's "grindball" defensive style of play. But Hunter's camp claimed he was looking for a more wide-open offense to showcase his skills for the NBA, which he wasn't going to get in Austin. Consider TJ runs the same grindball scheme... that claimed upgrade was actually a wash.
