***Official 2021 Vikings***

Damn. It was fun.
I mean, he effectively had a no trade clause already. With a deal set to expire after the 2022 season, he could have effectively nixed any trade he didn't like by publicly refusing to sign an extension with that new team. Between that leverage and his cap number this year, he could have driven down the compensation a ton if he didn't like the destination.

You could argue that he's worth more now,, on the trade market, with 2 years left on his deal. He still has the right to refuse any trade, but assuming he approved of the destination, a 2023 cap number of $35 million isn't going to be super high, compared to some of the other QB salaries for that season.

Was hoping the new contract would not only deal with the cap, but also be written to give the Vikes more flexibility. Thought more guaranteed money might have forced him to give up on the no-trade. Very disappointing.

while I wanted to trade Kirk, this isn’t the worst contract for the Vikings. They can essentially draft his replacement early this year or next and if that doesn’t workout, extend him again

So far, tendered K Greg Joseph, signing Bills' DT Harrison Phillips and cutting DT Michael Pierce.

Need some OL.

Also lost S Xavier Woods and G/C Mason Cole.

What are your thoughts on Phillips? He hasn't been all that productive and has had injury issues. $19.5M for 3 years is not a horrible deal, but maybe a little too much.

Don't know much about him. Saw some Bills fans on Twitter say he's poised to break out, just needs to stay healthy. Others say he's a role player. Most of their fans were sad to see him go. Sounds like he's a great person, great teammate and great in the community.

Vikings signed LB Jordan Hicks from Arizona. He appears to be an Anthony Barr replacement, as the speculation is that Barr is too pricey for Minnesota.

Just saw that. Sounds like he's more of a Middle LB and a run stuffer. If they're running a 3-4 they need another one of those.

Means they could possibly keep Barr since he's more of a rushing/coverage LB.

Lol. Ok that makes sense. I thought he was saying that they wanted the Vikings to cut Ezra Cleveland, who I thought he mistakenly was saying plays center. Stupid people with names the same as cities...
