WILLIAMS: Analyzing Iowa State’s NCAA Tournament situation after a big week

I am still nervous. We have more Quad 1 games played than anyone else. We are 8-7. Lots of bubble teams are 4-2, 3-1 or 2-1. I'm not sure 8-7 is any better than 2-1. So I think we need to win 1-2 more games to feel more confident we are in.

Well yeah, if we lose out we are not getting in. 1-4 finish and we would be sweating it.

In what ******* world are 8 Q1 wins close or equal to 4 or 3 or 1. I swear to ******* God some people just love being pessimistic and nervous. Seriously, please tell me this is a joke.

I’ve been a strong proponent of this all along. A losing conference record is a negative. A strong negative, that remains to be seen. Obviously, a strong finish may negate that.
Negating a negative…I wouldn’t not be so sure that you aren’t wrong about that.

What a difference a week makes.

Just get in, I don’t care about the seed. Brock is the kind of guy that could carry you to a couple wins if you give him the chance. He was a stone cold assassin today.
I think the key for this team is don’t get married to the 3. It seems when we are rolling we don’t do that. Agree on brockington

Why do people seem to hate the prospect of a rag tag group like ISU getting extra basketball?
One of two reasons:
1. They’re really a hok fan and are still salty about that whoopin’ they took earlier this season.
2. They have absolutely no idea what they’re talking about.

Presuming we get in (barring a collapse I think we do). What seed would you prefer?

We either need to finish strong (win 3 of our last 4) and maybe 1 more in KC and push for a 5 or 6 seed.
Or, we squeak in with 19 wins and get an 11 or 12 seed.

We need to avoid a 7-10 seed at all costs.

I think a 12 would be fun and have a shot at being the next great 12 seed that whacks a 5 and then a 4 to go deep in the dance.

I'm a little nervous about the WVU game. I didn't think we were very competitive in the first meeting. Not sure we march up well.

It’s our last chance for a bad loss. I worry that if we don’t win, our magic number goes up to 2.

Hard to say, but this being their 3rd game in 6 days is going to be hard for them. Plus, OU and TCU were examples of us playing horribly the first meeting.

I’d rather not play around and play in Dayton on Tuesday though

It's like how B1G fans will say that 7 B1G teams in the tourney shows it's so much stronger than the B12's 6-7 even though the % of teams favors the Big 12.

Just throw in some numbers, ignore others and ride out the narrative.

sheesh, some fans are clueless when it comes to the tournament. In no world is a 12 seed and playing an extra game preferable to a 7-10 seed. You get the best seed you possibly can and hope for a good draw.
