Report: OU & Texas reach out to join SEC

I'd agree with this. I think yes to Northwestern, Arkansas idk maybe but they'd maybe go south. Indiana ? NDSU if they bumped which is doubtful. Iowa State has more to offer than it used to and not just because of better football. But does U of I try to block it? Until anything happens it basically comes down to dream scenarios.
A problem with this " region " is that outside of the Midwest how much exposure / attention does this potential region get? Most of the people in SEC and ACC country would just right us off as the usual bunch of hicks out in the Midwest too slow to compete with the rest of the country. Basically Fly Over Country.

With ISU being in better position now I think the Big 10 West wouldn't be bad. Road trips to NE, Minny, Wisconsin. Easy travel.

We'd have 4 destina
I assume Kentucky is the exception that proves the rule.
Kentucky and Kansas were completely different situations. Kentucky did everything they could to remain neutral, Kansas participated in guerilla warfare v. Missouri.

Tom Shatel of the Omaha World-Herald....

I agree with this. Totally think this is a posturing move. However, like he said, it's hard to tell as an outsider right now what the postering would be for. Both schools already have the concessions you would think they would want at this point outside of going completely back to unequal revenue sharing, which doesn't seem too likely.

Mizzou sucking at football is because Gary Pinkell left and they replaced him by an awful coach. They were winning in the SEC when he was there. They suck at basketball for the same reason which is they have hired awful coaches. It has very little to do with the SEC. They are in a better place financially than they ever have been. The move to the SEC has been good for the University as a whole.
Explain it to me. What actual advantage would someone getting for leaving. The Big 12 as a whole may not bring as much in as the SEC but splitting between 10 vs 16 makes the difference negligible.

I’m not saying stuff isn’t happening but it would only be happening because Texas is run by absolute morons just like Nebraska.

Also I’m not worried because Iowa State will be fine as streaming is the factor and we are good at football.

In the near future division 1 will be split up. The blue bloods that want to pay their athletes, I estimate 20-25 schools, while the others will come together and return to “amateurism.” A true minor leagues being formed if you will.

Whatever.

Add BYU, Cincy, and keep on keeping on. If Wintersteen and Pollard can get ISU in the Big 10, great. ISU will be fine either way.
I'm not trying to to attack you or others with this thought, and not panicking, but the amount of money earned between a P5 and AAC/MWC type of school is mind boggling. Tens of millions per year.

Its a leverage play against the TV networks. We're going to leave the big 12 and join the SEC and all 16 of us are going to break away from the NCAA. We're going to start our own television network and we're going to generate and split all of the ad revenue. Have our own championships and bowl games. Cut out the NCAA. Cut out the TV networks.

I’ll just say it that mindset is moronic

You do realize this goes beyond past success historical right? Academics, facilities, current program state, a lot of these play bigger factors.

Im not sure we’d get the boot just “because we’re Iowa State”

Also, what makes you think WVU, TCU and K State are safe from this? Two of those programs were not in power five before about a decade ago.

Sure I do...but it also is about money! In fact...that is what will matter most! If Iowa State is 1 of 3 schools considered by the Big 10 in this hypothetical situation and Iowa State would bring the least amount of money to the league of those being considered...the Big 10 would choose the other 2! That is the reality...also, I don't think anyone in the Big 12 other than maybe KU is safe from this. I am not saying Iowa State is the only school that will get left behind...I think it may be everyone except OU, Texas and KU. Now...if it ends up with 4 conferences of 16 teams...who knows but there is nothing that says leagues MUST go to 16. The Big 10 does what they want...always have.
