You can bet they aren't going to take a hit financially. It would be crazy for Arizona, etc. to leave the "name" schools of the Pac 12

It's about money and the prestige of saying you are in the SEC. The decision isn't solely based on the easiest path to the college football playoff.
Just a guess, OU and Texas would go to the east, Mo gets pushed to the west.
Thinking Georgia and Florida and most of the eastern division wouldn't be in favor.
Its the dream scenario, but an extreme long shot IMO.

Big Ten may not expand at all if this comes to fruition, but if they do.....they make one final call to Notre Dame first. After that, who knows.

There was speculation last year that ASU and the U of A were wanting to join the league. I'm with you on that I don't think they were ever going to actually make the jump because they like being able to rub shoulders with the academic institutions of the PAc-12. Especially with ASU determined to be a top notch research institution.
Why? It would not be a decision based upon strength of the football program at this very moment! A lot more data to consider than that for this type of decision.
