The Fran fade

Fizer would eat Garza's lunch. Those two aren't even comparable. I'd take Tinsley, Grayer, Hoiberg, Ejim, Niang and Morris over Garza as well. All better all around players.

He's an elite college player but this "best player to step on the court" for Iowa or in the state is really overblown.

If it was just purely offense or scoring he probably is the leader if you value 4 years of production, although per game Fizer, Grayer and a few others were similar or better in scoring too. As someone else mentioned when you look at someone like Grayer being an elite defender there's that too. I was a little too young to remember what kind of defender Ronnie Lester was but in terms of carrying a team to winning things he is up with Fizer too.

When you look at all around production and leading a team to conference titles, conference tournaments and NCAA tournament success it's really hard for me to not laugh when people act like he has been a better player than Fizer. Fizer checked pretty much every box, he would have been a very high pick after his sophomore year and chose to come back. Garza would have gotten zero NBA interest after his sophomore year, and probably a late 2nd round pick after junior year.

Agreed and I would take Lester, Armstrong and Lloyd over Garza as well. I don’t think Garza is even Hawks best all around player.

Man Andy Fales was fighting back the tears watching Garza walk of the court, could he be a bigger Hawk fan

He always has been, just more professional about it unlike Sears.

I would actually rather listen to Jon Miller cover ISU when that was the KXNO lineup. An open Iowa homer who could give an honest truth about ISU sometimes. Miller's show when he didn't have Deace was better ISU talk than any show with Fales. Likewise I'm sure Chris Williams would cover Iowa better on talk radio than some huge ISU fan pretending to like Iowa.

Pretending to not be a homer for a particular team is the wosrt.

Murphy is fine.

...and you guys were touting the B12. Guess we were all wrong

Big 12 got a lot of teams and good seeds...but

1 - sweet 16 - not elimated
1 - lose in second round
2 - lose in first round
2 - lose in second round
4 - lose in first round

That's a different level of overrated, 50% of the top 8 seeds?

It's what happens when the media is allowed to run wild with their favorite teams when we have less non-conference play.

Illinois I could see as a 1-2. Iowa I could see as a 3 or maybe the 8th 2.

Ohio State and Purdue were overseeded heavily. When does a 21-10 team get a 2 seed? When Iowa State has that record in the conference that is normally ranked #1 by computer metrics I expect us to get 4-8 seed.

Ohio State lost 6 of their last 9 games and got a 2 seed.

That is utterly impossible for any non-Big Ten team to achieve. Even in the heyday of ACC homerism I doubt a team with a .500 record over the last ten games had ever gotten a 2 seed.

12-8 conference record without a conference title or Big Ten tourney title is a 2 seed???? WTF?

ISU conference records and seeds:
2019: 9-9 (won 3-0 B12T) 6 seed
2018: 4-14 not in dance
2017: 12-6 (won 3-0 B12T) 5 seed
2016: 10-8 4 seed
2015: 12-6 (won 3-0 B12T) 3 seed
2014: 11-7 (won 3-0 B12T) 3seed
2013: 11-7 10 seed

Comparable or better record to Ohio State all of those years, 3 wins to win the B12 tournament in four of them. Where's the 2 seed?

ISU once finished 2 games better in conference, won a conference tournament, then still got only a 5 seed compared to Ohio State getting a 2 for accomplishing significantly less?
