The Fran fade

But kept Fran around and gave him an extension when most schools would've let

Not yet but at the end of this season Prohm won't be coaching Iowa State anymore. Idk I can't watch most Iowa St games this year.
Yeah, I'm happy Iowa didn't let Fran go. They have a top 5 team right now 2 years after the extension. Not a Barta fan by any means but I'm happy he had the foresight to see Fran had something special brewing.

It's obviously paying off that Iowa extended Fran. I guess as long as they don't get bounced first round or anything. Who knows what the future will bring, but since extending Fran they've been really solid and Garza blew up (which is mostly why they're really solid). I think most Iowa fans didn't agree with the extension at the time, but are obviously fine with it now.

We, on the other hand, extended our HC after we won the Big 12 tournament, which sort of seemed like a good idea from the perspective that Prohm's alma mater opened up. However that has ended up being a horrific decision and is weighing us down big time at the moment. Hindsight is 20/20.

oh wow one year he did that and it only took like 10 years to accomplish that. You act like iowa is all of sudden going to have all that every year now.

I don't think anyone is expecting that. Having a Top 5 team in March is really rare for any team from the state of Iowa.

The last Iowa team to be in the Top 5 in March was back in the 50's.

I would assume Iowa State was Top 5 in March back in either 99-00 or 00-01 but did not check.

Yeah have fun with what will come after this season be back to barely making tourneys and still not winning anything important.

Yes, I'm not just putting it on weezy its a group thing. I believe we're around 175th in country in terms of percentage. Late in games I'm not sure we wouldn't be better of inbounding the ball then taking a 1 and 1 with anybody not named bohannon

Weezy, Garza, CMac, CJ and Joe T have all been very shaky from the line all year.

Nobody, including Barta and Fran, saw Garza blossoming into a NPOY type of player. Lightning struck for Fran.

Yeah I've never been a fan of having Prohm as a coach was mad they did that. Always thought he was terrible coach.

This is something that can bite you in the a$$.

Yep, my biggest concern by far with defensive rebounding being the second. I feel most of the time they miss the front ends of one and ones too. It is weird because most of those guys have proven to be good free throw shooters in the past.

I can't believe people on here trying to chip away at this Iowa win. They won by frickin 40 points lol. That's insane. Iowa's playing well. Good for them. Let it go.
Gotta have something to talk about. Much more fun to rag on them than shower them with praises

Another thing it could be is the fact there are no fans. It's weird shooting FT's in an empty gym while in a game.

Any idea how many will be allowed at the Dance? Family / Friends and all the "supporters". It's already difficult shooting in mega-arenas; will be interesting to see the FT% and FG% with lower attendance - who knows, might be better.

It's incredibly weird, but missing FT's are contagious.

I believe they're allowing 25% capacity.

25% capacity for NCAA tournament.

I am hoping Iowa gets their NCAA tournament games at Lucas Oil since they will be playing there next week for the conference tournament.
