I am actually curious what the difference is between a student manager and a walk on? Are they interchangeable terms, and that's just what they call walk ons in Texas? In my mind they are different, and a student manager shouldn't be eligible to suit up and play. But maybe I have my definitions off.
A walk on, is a player that is on the roster. They either tried out for the team or they were preferred. When you are a walk on, you have to go through the entire NCAA process that regular players have to go through to make sure that you're eligible. Through this process, the NCAA, Big 12, and your institution will investigate your athletic history and make sure you have not competed for money or broken any other NCAA rules. You also have to be medically cleared too.

Student managers are those who do all the dirty work behind the scenes are rarely receive recognition for it. It's insane the amount of hours they put in and they aren't even paid for it. Now, they do get the gear and free meals, but still.

What happened last night, and happens from time to time, is that they got the manager eligible to play, so right now he is an actual Division 1 athlete by definition. It's a b**** of a process to do this, which is why you can't just find some guy on campus and have him play in the game the next night.

I think he was trying to get confidence/rhythm against an inferior team. I don't think he does this again down the stretch.

I think so too. Nebraska was smart and really sagged off of him on defense. Once Iowa was up big, he shot more I think to try and get some confidence for the home stretch. It didn't work obviously.

Exactly when he hits a couple and at least make them respect him it raises the offense another level. Can't leave anybody but you can't leave Garza's man alone.

It's crazy to me a coaches kid can't shoot. That like never happens. I bet you and I could shoot 30% from 3 if we were wide open

Ya i can't disagree in this particular point. He's a bad shooter with a horrible release.

I feel like almost every team Iowa has played this year has done this. And Connor has made them pay for it at a 30% clip on wide open 3's
