The Fran fade

I do feel that Iowa's defense has gotten better now that they have almost exclusively went man instead of that terrible zone. I still don't think they are a good or even average defensive team, but I don't think they are awful like they were at the beginning of the season either.

Free throw shooting and defensive rebounding are my biggest concerns moving forward.

I can't believe people on here trying to chip away at this Iowa win. They won by frickin 40 points lol. That's insane. Iowa's playing well. Good for them. Let it go.
I'm always ok with some constructive criticism. If connor goes 8 for 8 from downtown we win by 59 and aren't having this discussion. I see laps in that mans future

Changing zone to man as the primary defense was the biggest key to February/March success. I don't understand why we aren't better at the line. Weiskamp and Frederick in particular

I wasn't trying to do that FWIW. Just saw something that jumped off on the box score is all
I wasn't just talking about you ;) lol it's everyone on here who wants to s*** on Iowa no matter what. I understand that we hate Iowa, but you can still hate em an acknowledge they look good right now.

The dip in Wieskamp's free throw shooting this year is something that is hard to explain.

It is without a doubt 100% mental. There's no other logical explanation.
It also could be him not working as hard at them. Last year, I would have taken him against most anyone when it came to shooting FT’s. Now I don’t know if I’d touch him.

When you go from nearly 86% down to 66% it just shows that it’s mental. Free throws are all confidence and when you lose that confidence it’s hard to get it back. Shooting FT’s in practice and in games is much different as well.

Yeah could be. It's interesting because he's a gym rat, so I'd find it hard to believe he stopped working on them, but who knows.

It is really funny that ISU fans totally defend a coach who has completely destroyed it's basketball program. Prohm inherited the AP #7 team and turn the program into a dumpster fire. Fran inherited a dumpster fire and turned it into a AP top 5 team.
oh wow one year he did that and it only took like 10 years to accomplish that. You act like iowa is all of sudden going to have all that every year now.

It wasn’t Weezy in that game. That was CJ and Joe T missing the critical ones.
Yes, I'm not just putting it on weezy its a group thing. I believe we're around 175th in country in terms of percentage. Late in games I'm not sure we wouldn't be better of inbounding the ball then taking a 1 and 1 with anybody not named bohannon

It is a mental thing too, no doubt about it. I just wonder if many of the guys aren’t working as hard in practice at the line. Our FT % has gone way down this year.

Another thing it could be is the fact there are no fans. It's weird shooting FT's in an empty gym while in a game.

We also fired the coach that ruined our basketball team.
But kept Fran around and gave him an extension when most schools would've let
Whe

Did JP fire Prohm? Must have missed it.

How many points did Texas Techs trainer get last night? Heard he went off...
Not yet but at the end of this season Prohm won't be coaching Iowa State anymore. Idk I can't watch most Iowa St games this year.

Very concerning to me. It is obviously mental at this point. He almost airballed a free throw last night. It might cost Iowa a long run too.
