The Fran fade

Well yeah, but I think Iowa will be a lot lower seed next year. A lot hinges on Wieskamp. If he comes back, then I think Iowa is still a top 7 seed. If not, then they are a bubble team.

Wieskamp
CJ Fredrick
Nunge
Conner
PMac
Keagan Murray
Ulis
Perkins
Khris Murray

Not a bad returning squad.

There is no way Iowa would be a bubble team without Garza and JW.

I doubt you could find a team with a higher % of production from two players in the past few decades.

JW is a great college player but is there really noise he won't be back?

LOL. Joe is coming back. He’s a great basketball player, but he’s not even close to being drafted. In all likelihood he’s not going to even get drafted after his senior year. I personally think Uthoff was a little better of a player, so take that as you want.

And interestingly, the reason Iowa is good this year (and potentially next) is that it is a roster full of simply college guys. None of them is going pro, so why not play ball at a major Div 1 college for 4-5 years? It's the reason that many mid-major teams are pains in the a$$ when you play them...they play together for 4-5 years. There is no challenge on dealing with 1 and dones, transfers, etc. I'm not bagging on this...it works. But that's the point with Iowa...take away Garza (who represents the best college player that you can be) and you simply have a mid-major that plays the same guys for 4-5 years...no more, no less.

This ^^^ is it. And I think Fran-ken-stein knows that now and we are back to seeing him for who he is. It's easy NOT to be a red faced hot head when things are going smoothly.

( for example, the quick whistle to nullify a fumble recovery by Jeremiah George that would have sealed a win against Texas in 2013 for ISU or the phantom 3-pointer by Kansas that was made after the first missed free throw when Jared Homan was shooting two when fouled on a shot attempt).

Sorry to nitpick, but it was not a "quick whistle" on the fumble. George was running the other direction with the ball before any whistle blew. That's what was so egregious! If they blow the whistle before you take the ball away, then the play is dead, too bad but at least the right call. This was just the refs getting together after the play and deciding, "Well, we didn't blow the whistle but we just want Texas to keep the ball, so they do."

Iowa and Illinois are rivals. Kind of like Iowa State and West Virginia are rivals.
Their rivals because a good percentage of U of I students are from Illinois. Not so much at ISU, because few high school students from W.V. can actually fine their way out of the hills.

The Iowa basketball obsession here is nice. What do ISU fans think of Prohmball these days? Is there a worse P5 coach out there than Steve Prohm?

God you are such a pansy ass! Not man enough to come on here when your precious little Iowa gets beat, only when ISU loses you sneak your measly little self back on here. You are a MORON!!

Obsession? Let's see forum heading........"in state rivals". Thread heading........"the fran fade". Considering Iowa is our "in state rival" and their head coach is Fran, I don't know why you think it's a novel thing we are ragging on Fran. What do you guys call next month..........Franuary? Is that meant to be a compliment?

So I guess he just wants to jack threes so defenders don’t collapse on Garza? A good facilitator could make them multidimensional. And obviously some of the guys he throws out there are not great ball handlers or defenders.

Frankly any team can get lucky hot from three once in a while but seems like there is a blueprint for decent teams to take them down.
Overwhelm them with athleticism. Pretty simple.

Wtf? Iowa just easier to get into than u of IL for these kids?
