The Fran fade

Which troll did the Jorbo to Seth Curry comparison again?

Apparently “clutch” is one term that should never be used to compare Jorbo to Curry.

Hey they both play basketball and are short compared to other people who play basketball. Neither have ever been in my kitchen

Taking off my Cyclone glasses:

1. Garza is great to watch on offense. Moves very effortlessly. Has a great touch.
2. Garza struggles on defense with quick bigs. Illinois's big men could spin move past him pretty easily.
3. Iowa lacks a killer go-to dog type (think Kane/Niang) at the end of games.
4. Fran still plays too many guys.
This can't be overstated enough. I was incredulous when I saw freshman Tony Perkins playing key minutes late in the 2nd half. If I could compare it to a situation at ISU, it would be like playing Hallice Cooke over Matt Thomas or Naz Mitrou-Long in the games deciding minutes. I just don't see how you can do that.

And throwing your son out there for 14 completely unproductive minutes is not a good look.

Toussaint should see the writing on the wall and transfer
I couldn't agree more. He is far and away their best defensive guard, and if he were used properly could be a very good floor general type of point guard. He is about 1 out of 2 players Iowa has that can create their own offense and get to the rim too. He would fit in much better at Iowa State than he does at Iowa honestly. I'd probably take him, too. Yet he can barely see the court at Iowa, because Fran would rather roll the dice each game and see if Jorbo is hot from 3 or not, even though it takes him all game to figure it out.

That’s interesting to know. I never watch them but check their box scores, which tell me nothing about defense. Not sure what he has against him other than he is not a family member.

He doesn't shoot the 3 ball extremely well. That would be my only guess, aside from what you mentioned about family members.

So I guess he just wants to jack threes so defenders don’t collapse on Garza? A good facilitator could make them multidimensional. And obviously some of the guys he throws out there are not great ball handlers or defenders.

Frankly any team can get lucky hot from three once in a while but seems like there is a blueprint for decent teams to take them down.
