Iowa Football Recruiting

Did Iowa lose all of their TE's from last year or are any of them coming back? I don't remember seeing anything about any of those guys last year. And yes I understand you lost 2 early to the draft so that's part of why you must have been bad at the position last year.

I'm trying to have a legitimate conversation. I'm sick of all the bs going on, so I was just wondering. I haven't seen anyone picking Fidone to Iowa so I just wondered why because I didn't think they had much depth there. I see there are a couple of young ones with good offers coming in, so maybe that's why?

The TE room is young but has a lot of talent. I think LaPorta is going to be special from the small sample size last year. His catch in the bowl game across the middle was one of the top 10 catches I've ever seen a TE make in an Iowa Uniform. Fidone would be a welcome addition to the room but I don't think he is a make or break recruit for the Hawks. That being said, I would be ecstatic if he chose the Hawks. That would truly be the cherry on top of the pie that is the current recruiting class.

Thanks for the info. I obviously would love Fidone to come to ISU, but that's not happening. I'm not being hyperbolic when I say that I feel like we have a top tier TE room in the country going into next season. We just need to get better on the offensive line to take the next step. But I love the progress.

Just like Melvin Gordon and Eno Benjamin weren't make or break recruits either

The equivalent to beating out Frost right now IMO

You think Miles will get as good a recruiting class as Frost? Not sure why you are trying to make beating Kansas for recruits a thing, but I guess that is what you are doing.

Kolar makes your TE room really good. After that, meh.

I certainly wouldn't make it a "thing", but you have to admit, at least Kansas has a little hope with Miles. Frost is going down in flames right now. Nebraska is quickly becoming a joke. Kansas has been joke but they have a clear plan to get better. The "remember the 90s" plan doesn't seem to be paying off.

I shouldn't respond to this, but I'm pretty sure Iowa finished higher than ASU in ever AP poll since Eno started at ASU. I wish it would have turned out differently, but Iowa did just fine without him. I'll give you Melvin Gordon.

Fidone needs Iowa as well. Hope he follows his head instead of his heart. It's hard to pull a kid away from the team he grew up dreaming of playing for but Nebraska has currently shown little ability to develop his position. Hell, Iowa St would be a better spot for him than the huskers.

I don't get what Frost is doing at all. He is doing a great job recruiting, but man he can't adapt to the Big10. You can't just have all offense, no defense and no line play and expect to win in the Big10. Wisconsin will kill you, Iowa will kill you, Northwestern will kill you, heck Minnesota can kill you now as well. If you can't man up and have good line play and play defense you just need to to home in the Big10.

Hell yes. The Hawks wanted Gordon. That one stung.

No... Golesh did. And now Campbell will.

Easton Dean may be the best out of all of them.

The QB is your best TE?

Man according to you ISU should be competing for a National title soon with so much talent sitting on it's benches.

Agree. There obviously was going to be a drop off losing two top-20 draft pick TEs in one draft. Wieting signed as an UDFA with Cleveland, but yes LaPorta was the breakout last year, great hands. And did it as a freshman, unreal.
