The Best Team Lost...Again

Game is over, lets move on with the season predictions. I think both teams have pretty solid seasons.

ISU:
UNI - W
Iowa - L

--------------------
LA-M - W
Baylor - W
TCU - L*
WV - W
TT - W
OSU - W
OU - L
Texas - L
KU - W
KSU - W*

KSU and TCU W/L are interchangeable. End up 8-4 (6-3) regular season or 7-5 (5-4) with an unexpected WV/BU/OSU loss.

Iowa:
Miami - W
Rutgers - W
ISU - W
---------------------

MTS - W
Michigan - L
PSU - L*
Purdue - W
NW - W*
Wisc - W
Minn - W
Illinios - W
Neb - L

PSU and NW W/L are interchangeable. End up 9-3 (6-3) regular season or 8-4 (5-4)with an unexpected Purdue/Minn loss.

I think you're pretty close on ISU. You guys will beat Michigan (their offense is terrible) and Nebraska (their defense is terrible). Wisky owns you guys, PSU is a toss up, I'm not sold on their QB play, I expect a game about like last year. Then I think you'll have a game Stanley gives away. With the way that schedule sets up, I just can't see you losing more than 3 games tops.

Agreed. Let’s hope we can get some bodies healthy so we’re not throwing a walk-on safety or #5 CB back there. Bye week came at a good time for us.

I'll let you in on a secret. Your walk on safety isn't going anywhere. Your scholarship guy (that nobody wanted) graded out much worse than he did. Like really really bad

We have a WTF loss every year and usually have a WTF win. So it balances out. Expecting 8-9 wins is about right.
Iowa seems like the exact same team every year. They never seem improve and they never seem to get worse. Even the team that started out 11-0 a few years ago didn't seem much better than the one the year before or the one after. They usually make a run at 10+ wins when they rotate OSU off their schedule. Nothing wrong with that.

I'm tired of it happening, but TOE has to be the luckiest group I've ever seen. I went back and watched some of it again (as painful as it was) and it just jumps off the screen how much better we are than them. Yet somehow, we would have some bogus penalty, or some other crazy play to kill our momentum. I feel like we would beat them 9 out of 10 times, but it's their Superbowl, so they can have it and be mediocre all year. Let's get to the Big 12 title game.

Purdue. Most people making their season predictions for Iowa didn't peg that as a loss.
Not wtf loss in the least bit. Purdue was the favorite at home last year. Wouldn’t even say people didn’t peg that for a loss for Iowa earlier in the year. There was a little hype for Purdue coming off a 7-6 season and they had also won at Kinnick the year before.

Maybe. I'm talking more about Iowa fans. Whenever predictions for the season are made the L's are always some combination of the usual suspects based on who we play... Michigan, PSU, Wisco, MSU, maybe NW, ISU and Nebby, definitely OSU when we play. No one ever predicts a loss to a Purdue, NDSU, Minney, Maryland, Northern Illinois, etc. So it's not always a WTF L, but an L that most aren't predicting.

There's no question that the second weather delay contributed to isu's demise. Allowed Iowa to get a good look at the purdy led O and adjust much earlier than they would've other wise. The argument that Iowa got the same advantage doesn't apply coz they weren't bringing anything new schematically or personnel wise while isu (keep in mind the bye week) did both...isu certainly didn't need the stoppage.

You might be right. Seemed like he played pretty well and you know he’s a real cerebral player back there after that great play on 4th down to save us yards instead of getting the pick. Get our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th CB back and I’ll feel much better about the defense since that spot seemed to be the weak link in week 3.

In weather conditions where our receivers could cut and use their speed more effectively, we would’ve absolutely shredded that trashy secondary. But of course it rained even when it wasn’t supposed to and evened the playing field. Hawkeye luck.
