Iowa was very short in the secondary, so they had their issues going into the game and still won it. Give them credit for going on the road with a short handed secondary and pulling out the win. They are patient, smart and disciplined, that is why they won. If ISU had those traits at Iowa's level, ISU may have won. With that said,I think the biggest factor in the game was Iowa playing 2 games against D1schools and us playing only one game against an FCS school. Our guys just did not have the opportunity to have enough game reps, film work, and coaching to be really sharp. This was evident from Jay Jordan's write up. He said said everyone is focused on the mental mistakes like not catching an interception, but in reality, we were not sharp, especially on defense. Execution was the issue, and we had guys missing tackles, taking bad angles, and not being where they were supposed to be. They were still rusty after the off season and only one game. Had they had 60 more or so live game reps, they would have been sharper.
