It is still a Hawkeye State

Looks like the holding call was bad, that sucks. ISU got to do the play over and couldn't convert. Then ISU was gifted 90 seconds to go 40 yards to win the game with a FG and blew it. If you want to remember this game as a screwjob, have at it, but the number of ISU self inflicted wounds is much more of a deciding factor than poor officiating, and thats what most people will remember about this game, not 1 phantom holding penalty during the longest game ever.

How were we gifted 90 seconds? From what I saw, our D gave us 90 seconds. You saying that the refs gave it to us? Typical hawk.

OMG.... it's even worse than I could have imagined. Meeker just dominated that idiot. It's playing offensive tackle 101 perfect technique and domination. Just shoved him flailing to the ground like a chump.

What in the world could the ref even seen there? No grab at all. Oh wait.... he saw an obvious PI flag on Iowa and needed to call something to offset it to protect the B1G.

Your D gave you 55 seconds by getting 3 stops. Iowa's asinine play call on 3rd down bumped it up to 90 seconds. So I guess I'm mistaken there - you weren't gifted 90 seconds, you were gifted an extra 35ish seconds and had plenty of time to go down the field.

Dumb. It was a 1 point game, everything that potentially took points off the board is equally “at fault”. That blown call pretty easily fits the bill.

I remember when Rhoads couldn't recruit quality depth too. It sucked

This is so true. ISU played a ton of guys in the secondary all night last night.... going 2-3 deep on the depth chart. Probably shouldn't have played a few of them so much, but he was trying to keep guys fresh. Depth is nice to have.

Not gonna lie, I don’t know the exact rules, but I thought the refs could have kept the clock running after that 3rd down.

Yep and we got some good ones. Johnson and Eisworth and ridiculously talented

Actually no, that isn’t a style most of our players have. Also I’m not your bro.

Reading must be difficult for you. Many does not equal most.

You want to look like an idiot, feel free. Its quotes like that that make most of my kids friends (many of whom are D1 football prospects and have the exact hairstyle you mock) never even look at a school like Iowa State. Now given we dont recruit a bunch from New Orleans, but damn if there isnt talent.

I thought forward progress was stopped but it was questionable. Call didn't go our way, have to move on from it. Edit; And either way that play call is maddening. Iowa easily could have lost the game from that extra 35 seconds.

I didn’t see that. I’m sure there were several missed calls that favored Iowa, just like there were several missed calls that favored Iowa State. That’s kind of the point- any talk that the officiating had any influence on the outcome of the game is pure nonsense. There are missed calls on both sides in literally every game that has ever been played.

This is true, but a couple that they did get called like the holding penalty that wiped out the PI call was rather large mistake. It was not a hold, there was also a helmet to helmet hit in the second half, that went uncalled the Iowa defender led with his helmet right to the head of the ISU ball carrier.
ISU lost because we turned the ball over twice, once in the red zone, lets stop the talk from Iowa fans how their dline was going to roll the oline of ISU, and how Purdy would be running the entire night from the Iowa Dline. Or the fact that Iowa had players hurt and therefore the reserves were the ones that gave up the long pass plays, and the starters would not have.
You won, take your win and go back to the cesspool of Iowa City, but I am not sure you were the better team, but in the end, it really does not matter.
