Initial CyHawk Game Predictions

If it comes down to a very close game where the kicker is the difference maker...I absolutely believe Herky has the advantage. I would even stipulate it is not a small advantage. I have nothing to back that up other than my general historic discontent with our kickers in critical situations.

Iowa State kickers have had some big moments against Iowa. They hit a game winner a few years ago, and didn’t Iowa State win a game by kicking like six field goals- I think it would have been in 2007?

Kick won that game Chizik was coach 15-13 and we won with a kick in IC when Kirk called a TO with time running out to mess with the kicker...missed that kick as the timeout was called...made it after the timeout.

For starters I can't see TM and CMC telling Brock to stay in the pocket for the Iowa game. He is going to have to create and at least be an option in the zone read.

The ONE thing I’m sure about from an Iowa perspective is that they will rush four to contain him in the pocket. Or at least try. Unless he is picking them apart I see almost no blitzing from the Hawks. They will play coverage and make them drive the field. On third down they will rush three and use a spy.

I just hope Kirk uses his usual game plan they use against mobile QB's...

The mood of this game feels like 2005. Iowa fans predicting a blowout, and ISU fans feeling down on their luck. 23-3 ISU is how that turned out.
I brought that game up in another thread. While not triple ot, the game prior against Illinois State was a real struggle.

Lol I like how there are triggered hawks that Iowa State fans on an Iowa State board have picks for Iowa State to win the game. Even when Iowa State is favored.

No idea who wins. No idea which ISU offense shows up. If it's the Brock Purdy show, we'll score some points. If it's the watered-down **** show we saw Saturday, I can see another 13-3 type of game in favor of Iowa.

Obviously I hope we win, but if this is an honest prediction based on both teams' first game, then I will take 24 - 10 Hawkeyes. Our offense is going to take several games to figure things out I'm afraid. Sorry, just the way I see it. Please let me be wrong!

Don't worry. You're NOT a 'homer'. He's just trying to get a rise out of you.
I mean I would say I'm biased, but I feel like a homer pick would be me picking ISU to blow Iowa out. Lol and I actually think I struck a nerve.

Is that linus tech tips

Iowa wins this game in perpetuity until ISU becomes better at playing smash mouth football than Iowa is. I predict ISU tries to establish the run early and plays conservative with little to no success. Repeated runs up the middle of 0 to 2 yds, with short passes to the middle of hte field on 3rd down. Playbook doesn't open up until the second half and by then, it's too late. 31-10 Iowa.

LOL The amount of overreaction by both fan bases due to the week 1 results is laughable.

Its pretty clear based on past seasons that CMC has his team peak in October. That gives me some confidence heading into Week 3 even though the schedule sets up great, according to him, for ISU.
