Initial CyHawk Game Predictions

True, but I try to be an optimist. I figured it was possible to keep one thread clean and semi relevant to the OP.

I learned years ago that if I'm jumping into an ISR thread for the first time when it's got more than like 6 pages, I should just stick to the OP rather than dive down the rabbit hole of catching up on what the thread has become by that point. Maintaining the sanity of the community is impossible. Maintaining your own sanity is paramount.

I would unfortunately pick the Hawkeyes. The clones offense mightily underwhelmed for me Saturday. That said, the better team doesnt always win this game and Saturday could have been an anomaly. 24-17 suckeyes. Go clones, prove me wrong.

17-6, Hoks, pains me to say it.

I also expect to see Re-Al Mitchell playing.

I'll be drinking a lot of Budweiser and Makers Mark.

Cyclones are headed back to the Liberty Bowl.

And Kujofan will be able to enjoy another 12 months of snarky comments.

Those are my predictions.

You've got one data point for each team. Iowa looked meh then pretty decent. ISU looked pretty consistent throughout its performance...which was actually actually quite a bit better stats-wise than score-wise, and perhaps a bit flukey (bad review call that upheld UNI's TD).

Gun to my head at this moment based on Saturday's performances, I'd give Iowa the edge. I think ISU has the higher ceiling but Campbell needs to figure out how to get these guys playing closer to their potential earlier in the season. If he does that, ISU wins.

That's a wishy-washy answer but it's too early and we know too little about either team for anyone to answer confidently.

Not sure how you think Iowa State has a higher ceiling with an average at best OL.

I don't believe any team will score > 25pts.

Iowa: 24
ISU: 20. Because we can't match the intensity & preparation of a team who treats this game like it's a Superbowl :)

Iowa did make mistakes though. They fumbled the ball when the FB tried to foolishly tried to lateral the ball instead of just eating it. That led to a huge turn of events in the game.

What little of Iowa's game I saw, that was it.

What an odd play for a team/program that's generally really fundamentally sound. And wasn't the 'pitch' to Stanley? Not exactly Ahman Green back there.

I might honestly know more after what UNI does this weekend. I saw plenty of teams this weekend that I thought would have been way less resistant defensively.

I didn't watch the entire game. When was this? Who was it?

Poorly timed penalties. Watching them trying to get a snap off in time was almost and every other down occurrence. I'm sure some of that was on the Young QB.
Kid at qb is a true freshman, right? If so, he will be a solid qb in several years.
