Hawk fans gonna turn on Stanley

To quote Mark Twain:
"There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics."
I'm relying on the eye test - what I see - and the results. If you're telling me Stanley's ceiling is higher than Purdy's then I know how asinine you are.
Yeah, your eyes are lying... I didn't say that. Just that Purdy's decision making wasn't MARKEDLY improved throughout the year.

I think he'll be a nice stopgap until Hogan gets to campus. If Petras can hold off a kid like Hogan for a year, more power to him. Going to be tough to keep Deuce though, big time programs like Georgia, Tenn, Okie State, and ISU want him bad.

Do you even look at stats/winning? He’s not coming anywhere near Chuck Long's yardage record, unless he has an all time season. Again, that would put him in the discussion. More importantly, he has to have a signature season. He has to contend for a league title. More than 10 wins. I know as an ISU fan you don’t really consider wins as a measure for QB's, after all, not much history of winning, but at Iowa winning games are important.

Chuck Long
Randy Duncan
Brad Banks
Drew Tate
CJ Beathard
Ricky Stanzi (would be higher if he hadn’t gotten hurt against NW and led Iowa to a B1G title)
Nathan Stanley

That’s now. He has one more year. Could he move way up on the list? Yes.

What about Hartlieb and Matt Rodgers?

Stanley had to face the #2 pass efficiency D in the nation in one of those games too.

Purdy got to face a non scholarship program from the Pioneer League.
Let's not let things like W's and L's and TD passes get in the way of their logic.

I mean Purdy didn't play in the first 3 games of the season so it would've been nearly impossible for him to have more TD passes.. However he still went 7-2 and his losses came to a ranked Texas on the road and the #12 team in the nation in a bowl game. We'll see how Purdy progresses but the fact of the matter is you're arguing the decision making between a true freshman and a junior. Stanley should have better decision making.

Yes, we know Purdy missed playing the 2 best pass defenses on the ISU schedule last season.

I think Purdy is a "good" young QB. Too soon to call him elite for sure. Stanley would also fall into the "good" QB category too. Not elite either. He cherry picked the last 3 games of last season I didn't. I think Stanley performed better over those 3 games that's all.
