Iowa Football Recruiting

This is a pretty dumb argument tbh. Of course Iowa fans are going to think you guys did better, especially since you had a good season and didn't flop or anything. And of course Iowa State fans are going to think we did better because we also had a good year.

Exactly which is why I go to unbiased AP voters to help decide

I should've clarified that similar year doesn't necessarily mean similar record. We ended up with better wins and played in a better bowl game against a better team.

In 2018, ISU ended up with less wins than Iowa and lost to Iowa but played a tougher schedule. Iowa finished the year ranked in the AP poll and in the Top 10 in Sagarin's final rankings.

In 2017 ISU and Iowa ended with the same amount of wins and Iowa won the head to head and played a tougher schedule. Neither team finished the season ranked but ISU received more votes in the final AP poll and Iowa finished higher in Sagarin's final rankings.

Better bowl game argument doesnt really work, IMO, because each team had the same record going into bowl season. Different bowl tie ins and selection procedures for each conference plays a role in what team goes where.

Who is saying the game doesn't count? You really know how to bog down threads

You are the one saying the final AP poll and the position of a schools listing in the “also receiving votes” category is what determines who the best team is.

I am saying Iowa was better in 2017 because while the season win totals are the same, the team who won the game also played a tougher schedule.

So Akron was better than Northwestern last year because they won head to head? You're not making sense. Upsets happen in college football and 2017 is a perfect example of that

I agree with all of this.

It's funny Iowa fans think we should win at Baylor, WVU, Texas Tech and Kansas State but Nebraska who has been God awful at home the last two years is such a tough game. Lol

Link to me saying you should win on the road. I can’t justify what others are saying.

ISU received more votes in the final AP poll in 2017. Not sure why that is so hard to comprehend. If you don't think that matters you're entitled to your own wrong opinion

Why does that make ISU the better team? Since we have objective data and all

Unbiased AP voters said we were the better team. That's all I'm saying

I give head-to-head a lot of weight if the road team wins. If they have similar seasons that would be my tiebreaker. Basically, if Iowa beats ISU this year and both have similar seasons I will give th nod to Iowa barring strange citcimstances. Yes, I would even disagree with the pollsters. I often do anyway.

Get this reasonable answer out of here. No room for that here.

FWIW if it wasn't Iowa's Super Bowl I'd agree with him

Yeah, James Daniels sure did enjoy that victory. What a great and proud Hawk he is.

There is a lot of truth in this statement. No doubt the Iowa staff has put a ton of focus on beating Iowa State over the past few years. It's very clearly the most important game to them.
