who doesn’t claim tickets sold?
You guys claimed 56000 for the Drake game and there were maybe 2000 people in the stands.

Iowa’s attendance issues for basketball have very little to do with the population base around the Iowa City area. Iowa fans in general are not as passionate about their basketball program as Iowa State fans, and it has been that way for as long as I can remember. It’s the exact inverse for football, and that is what you would expect; Iowa is a football school and Iowa State is a basketball school.
Trying to excuse Iowa’s attendance issues by complaining about Iowa State’s proximity to the DSM-metro area is embarrassing. Please stop.
No, students shouldn't get free tickets.

Aren't you the guy that wanted to keep your thread on topic, then didn't?Has anyone taken into consideration that Ames is 20 minutes from Ankney, 30 minutes from DSM/ waukee and 40 min from west des moines? A lot more population closer to ames than there is to Iowa CIty. So days like today when roads are not great and schools are being let out early because of it people within a hour radius are more likely to go to games than fans that need to drive 2+ hours
That’s fair but I’m pretty sure paid attendance is what every school uses...not just Iowa which was inferredThe box score always shows tickets sold. That's how box scores work. No one was bragging about how many tickets we sold for the Drake game. We know the weather was atrocious and I give credit to those who were brave enough to show up.
UNI has done this right?Why?
Just pointing out that Iowa isn’t unique in reporting paid attendance...every school does it.Who bragged about how many fans were able to show up for the Drake game? Find me a post. I'll wait.
UNI does for all sports. Obviously they are a smaller school but stillAnybody else think students should have an allotment of free tickets for every game? I think Duke and some other schools do this. With the cost of tuition combined with TV money etc I don’t really see a reason to have them paying...
ISU and Iowa don’t need money from student ticketsUNI has done this right?
Has UNI recently asked Iowa and ISU to help cover their AD monetary short falls?

Good for them...just seems petty to nickel and dime students when there are big TV dollars rolling inUNI does for all sports. Obviously they are a smaller school but still
Iowa could probably use the money to fire Fran.ISU and Iowa don’t need money from student tickets

There's a huge difference between citing paid attendance and relying on it as an indicator of fan support, as you and others have tried to do.
