Iowa offering free tickets for the MSU game

The box score always shows tickets sold. That's how box scores work. No one was bragging about how many tickets we sold for the Drake game. We know the weather was atrocious and I give credit to those who were brave enough to show up.
Who bragged about how many fans were able to show up for the Drake game? Find me a post. I'll wait.
Less than 5 years ago, The U of I lawyers had to tell Barta he couldn't do a promotion to get people to go to games because it was illegal.
Wasn't it Texas Tech several years ago who had free student tickets for a while? They still didn't show up.
Schools that really need students to show up wouldn't benefit from free student tickets, because there's a reason they aren't buying them. Schools whose students would use free tickets, don't need to give them away for free.
All this does is prove your point that it would be absurd to hang your hat on paid attendance when you know no one shows up, which no one is trying to do in reference to the Drake game. Thanks!

That’s fair but I’m pretty sure paid attendance is what every school uses...not just Iowa which was inferred
UNI has done this right?
Has UNI recently asked Iowa and ISU to help cover their AD monetary short falls?
Just pointing out that Iowa isn’t unique in reporting paid attendance...every school does it.
There's a huge difference between citing paid attendance and relying on it as an indicator of fan support, as you and others have tried to do.
Good for them...just seems petty to nickel and dime students when there are big TV dollars rolling in
But not every school brags about that paid attendance, especially when people aren't showing up to the actual games.
What are we supposed to use then? That is the only figure given from a reputable source.
