NCAA Tournament Poll

On Dec 30 I said Iowa had reasonable chance to win 4 of next 5. On Jan 4, after they were crushed by Purdue, I requested a mulligan. With PSU coming up, I rescind my mulligan. Then Illinois. 5 of 6 now seems at least reasonable, maybe likely.

This provides me hope for upcoming Cyclone outlook. CBB is a long season with many twist & turns.

So true. An example of this is burned into my memory painfully:

2/3/2016 Iowa 18-4, #1 in KenPom rankings
3/13/2016 Iowa 21-10, lost 1st big 10 tourney game to 15-19 Illinois, NCAA tourney 7 seed

Man that collapse sucked. And you're right - Cyclones could easily go on a tear and skyrocket up the rankings.

AdjD now at 80. Remember when you were so convinced in the offseason that Iowa’s defense wouldn’t get any better than it was last year, Iowa would be terrible at basketball, Joe Wieskamp was a bad shooter, etc. Been a rough season for you thus far.

Bump for @CyTwins

I said Weiskamp was a bad shooter? I'm glad you are happy with your KenPom rating. Still 5 spots behind 7 loss Texas but hey it's an improvement from last year

My fault; you didn’t say he was a bad shooter, just that he wasn’t a good shooter (which has still proven to be laughably wrong). Still think I’m wrong for thinking THT isn’t a good shooter?

Laughably wrong was your take on Mike Jacobson.

I'm pretty sure I even said THT was a streaky shooter which is exactly what he is. He's so much better defensively than I expected though and a better passer too

I’m just having a hard time figuring out why I was getting crucified for my takes on THT when they have proven to be pretty spot on- at least halfway through the season.

I mean, he’s averaging 13 and 6 for the season, which has dropped precipitously to 8 and 5 during conference games. Saying that he wouldn’t be a difference maker doesn’t appear to be laughably wrong when considering his stats.

It's laughably wrong. I know you don't like basketball defense, he's been solid on that end too.

His numbers in conference games are pretty much the same as they were at Nebraska. His hot start to the season shooting the ball was unsustainable and anyone with half a brain would have recognized that. Jacobson will continue to be a good role player for Iowa State the rest of the season.

You realize the competition in the B12 is a significant step up from the B10?

What conference has a stronger RPI right now?

I don’t know, I don’t follow the RPI (and neither does anyone else to my knowledge). B12 is probably marginally better than the B1G this year, and that is only because the B1G has Rutgers and Illinois weighing it down. But “significant step up” is laughably inaccurate.
